This is a first world problem and not a very significant one at that however, being a good FF I do not want to let points go if I can avoid it. Partner and I are flying JNB-ACC (Accra) next year in business on South African. I have VS, QF and AA membership. Partner has QF and AA membership. In order to earn some points I would intend to allocate them to VS. QF appears to only award points for SA domestic flights within South Africa and international flights between Australia and South Africa. The issue is for the partner. Should he join VS Flying Club and transfer the rogue points to me (at a VS charge) or is there some other way to grab the lot?

Credit them to Lifemiles and then top them up with a points purchase to go flying on SQ or Thai ex BNE. Should credit around 4500 miles each.

Another option would be to credit to US Air then move them to your AA account when the two programs are merged.

Possibly, but I think it should be still ok with US Dividend Miles by Early next year. Big question you want to ask yourself is which alliance you want to earn points in, One World or Star?

Added to that, determine which one is easier to top up points should you need. (LifeMiles probably has AA on this point but USDM seem to still be having regular points buy offers)
