I am sure I'm not the only one experiencing this but I am getting a lot of points credited that don't match the earn rates as per the velocity site.
I'm also quite particular about terms and conditions of various earning opportunities and cannot find anything that explains it.

Some recent examples.

Shop and earn purchase of $250AU from an Australian merhant (total goods without delivery charge) at a published earn rate of 4 points per dollar = 1,000 points
Amount credited is 738 points which even if I considered taking GST away from the total still doesnt add up.

Next example is a flight from Gold Coast to Melbourne which earns 5 points per dollar plus 100% for my platinum status.
OOL-SYD-MEL =$216 for a flexi fare which should be a base rate of 1080 + platinum bonus = 2160 points.
Points are shown per sector as being OOL-SYD=1638 and SYD-MEL=1700 thus total for OOL-MEL is shown as 3338

So far I am in front, but then on the return......
MEL-OOL direct in Business at $450 should equal 4500 points all up........amount credited 3202

So while the total of 6540 for the trip is close to the estimated 6660, the individual sectors don't add up.

Anyone else want to share their experiences???

60 points would personally not be worth the 10 minutes it would take me to call up and explain the problem (and then another 10 minutes to call up again when the points don't credit properly).

Ahhh good old Shop and not earn. Always trying to dodge points somehow. Let it go...if it was thousands of points I'd say call, but if you put in a claim it will take weeks for a response (and generic at that)

Er, Virgin Australia has switched away from the "points per dollar" earning method and now awards points based on booking class and distance flown.
