Hi all,

Looking at flying my partner and myself SYD-LHR return at the end of the year in Business class on MH. While the exact return flight I'd be after hasn't been released yet (late-January), using a departure date of 19/12 and return of 3/01 it looks like using just the 1,000 points already in my account brings the total down to ~$7.5k versus the ~$18k an outright booking seems to be.

Clearly each thousand points I add isn't going to knock off the same dollar value as the first, but how much will another 10k points knock off? 50k? How many points are required to bring it down <$4k total?

I don't want to transfer my points across only to find out that it only reduces it by another $500 or so, so is anyone who has some points in the Enrich account able to check? Is there a particular formula? Any and all advice is appreciated!

Cheers.

I'm having trouble with their website at the moment. Probably related to the taxes not being loaded onto their system for such late dates. I'm also having problems using the slider but that's a problem I've always had using a tablet to do these things. However, for earlier dates, taxes will be approximately $1200 per person, making it about $2400 that you'll have to pay with the full redemption of 204000 miles. I'd be guessing that you'll need about 150000 miles if you want to cap your cash payment to around $4000 for 2 passengers.

I've not done many redemptions but the slider seems to work on a fixed value per point

The full redemption is 4x 51000 points + taxes
You can see the taxes by clicking on the taxes link on the availability quote page

((Quoted price for points + pay) -taxes)/(full redemption cost-points used)*100 should give you the deduction per point in cents

In your case (c$7500-c$2000)/(204000-1000)*100=2.7c/pt

It's usually between 2-3c/pt in my (limited) experience

Slider wan't working on my PC either when I tried to double-check my calculation above

Thanks for the replies. Looks like the new redemption rates will probably nix the whole thing however.

There's still a few days to snap up the outbound. It would be less than half on the taxes as no UK APD.

Looks like you can still do the outbound leg.

For the return leg,
I suggest you book an earlier date which falls within the 330 day parameter,
and later call up to change dates at a cost of US$20 for each ticket.
I think that's doable.

Can someone please help out with using Cash+miles. I am going around and around in circles.

Login with membership number, click on Flight redemptions and Cash+miles screen appears but no way to enter flights. Click on the link and asked to login again and back to previous screen. Go around and aroubd.

I have found another link but that is asking for Username which I don't know if I have or not and I don't know how to create one without creating a new account.

I have had this issue before and somehow managed to get around it. Can't find a workaround now.

Without actually going to the site to check, I believe you'll need to click on the 2nd tab on the main window which says something like 'Select Route". If only they have a Red Roo equivalent that would be willing to take feedback on their website as it needs a serious upgrade.

Yes, I went around in circles at first as well. "Select Route" is what you need to click.

Don't have my member number with me to login and check.
