points and coordinating all the programs points?

hope you are well.

i am a member of many airline and hotel chain programs but it has just dawned on me that i have missed out on several thousand points as i am unsure how they are coordinated.

do you know what i am meant to do when you check into an airline that has a partnership with another airline or hotel chain is there an easy way to coordinate the points sharing arrangements. i.e star alliance should coordinate points?

if you turn up to a hilton do you have to show all your program partner cards that seems coughbersonme.

and

how do i redeem the ones i have used over the last couple of years that i have been flying frequently?
