Go to a Caltex Woolies and buy the 5% off Star Cards with your Woolies Wish cards. You end up with 10% off your fuel while the promo runs this month. You can still get the 4 cents off from $30 spend at Woolies.

Having recently learned of bank accounts that earn velocity/qantas FF points...time to sell the house and rent I think. 💡

I have used about half a million QF points on flights this month to beat the devaluation in a couple of days time. It is still easier to use VA points for A330 domestic business class flights so I did use quite a bunch of their points too.

Still working my way through my wish cards for groceries and fuel bought pre deval
Yup, same here. Currently on my last couple of $500 WISH eGift Cards. I've almost forgotten how to purchase one, the last time I did was April before the deval!

Do you know if this applies to all states? I remember you mentioning Caltex fuel cards in another thread but you mentioned it was specific to PER or WA only. Would love to know if it would work in VIC for example.

I just send those 10% discounted Caltex Star Cards to staff who want them in various States. I really don’t know what works in Victoria.
So the idea of 10% off plus 4 cents plus points on the purchase of the Wish cards has kept me smiling this year.

Thanks for the heads up Cove! Hope you're well.

I definitely have a similar problem! I am in charge of paying all bills in our house and ensuring we maximise points usage.

Same here, with the business accounts as well. Constant decisions & responsibility

I won’t pay more than 1.5%

I think I have changed a little bit. I have given away about a million of ATO for others to put on their credit cards. Small steps to overcome OCD actions. I think I will be cured well before 2030.....or not.....

About a month ago we purchased a new car for #1 son with a CC .... next week or so we'll be trying our best to purchase a property with a CC.

Interested to know if anyone on here has purchased a property via CC?

I've spoken to Amex they don't have any issue allowing me to pre-load the card for the purchase price. Haven't spoken to the agent yet....

Cars is where I've topped out.
Would be interested to hear what the agent has to say and I'm sure that'd be negotiable

Our work credit card rate is 1.0 % for Visa and MasterCard and 1.5% for Amex.
I paid a shire rates bill on Amex Ultimate and only received half a point per dollar. Should have used Amplify to get 0.825 points per dollar

Plat amex will earn 1.125 / $ KF mile, it’s also the easiest way to pay a 7 figure sum settlement.

Pity we didn’t purchase prior to the pre April deval.

I’ve paid deposits on properties with a credit card but not the whole amount. Numerous company cars, but was only able to get the first $ 10,000 on each one without credit card fees.

I haggled to get the CC fee for the car dropped, IIRC it was going to be 1.2%

I'd like to know whether you are successful in purchasing property on a cc too please amaroo.

Noice. I bought 3 cars in one day so I thought they could have been more flexible. Mind you, my 2ic haggled a lot for a sweeter price!

Thinking about it I'm not sure how it would go with the logistics. Typical settlement day involves 2 x solicitors and 2 x lenders ..... in this case there would only be the vendors lender.

Guessing you'd need to...

a) pay the full amount into my solicitor's trust account days before settlement day, and hope they don't go on a never ending all expenses paid holiday

b) pay the vendor's lender via CC on the day ..... assuming that would not be possible

c) similar to option a) but pay via the RE agent's trust account ..... and then hope like hell they don't skip off with it. This option is as attractive as having a hole in the head!
