I'm definitely a points collecter, but have never thought of some of the ideas posted in here, I guess i'm just not as hardcore as what I thought lol

Never stop learning!

I see new ideas, feels like every time I spend a bit of time on here lol

Agreed. I do want to add that in my perusal of these fora, I have to say that other than CC churning, it seems like the biggest way to scoop up massive amounts of points is simply (or still) to have a lot of money with which to spend in the first place :confused:

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I did take up some US credit cards and for a while AA Miles Citi CC worked sweetly with the ATO. Unfortunately the fee to do this changed the wrong way.
Now I use a US Amex and a Chase CC for extra Kris Miles as I find Kris Miles very easy to use for the best flights.
You really need a Social Security Number to help pass the ID test and a US address for US credit cards.
One in my family is trying again to get a Chase CC without a SSN and I may go with him to our most local Chase branch. He did get a B of A CC on his last visit.
Don’t let me warp you with US credit cards......
My sons are helping by flying to Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide from Perth using the AA Miles. We still have too many in four accounts but we can live with that.

Sometimes I do look at US CCs with envy. The perks and earn rates can, at times, colour me green with envy. I guess I have the 'benefit' of having more miles than annual leave, so I'm in no rush...

(yeah, I know, hardly a benefit. Haha.)

I'm still learning (so much!) and recently have embarked on credit card bonus sign ups - my goal is J RTW redemption on *A for the two of us. We're maybe 2/3 of the way there with about 18 months until I'd like to travel. Close friends of ours are credit card shy due to past experiences, but are happy to help us get to our points goal, so occasionally I will pay for big bills or flights for them on my card and they'll transfer the money across. It's a win/win.

Those people that can put their business expenses on their credit cards make me envious with their points earning potential. But I suppose running a business is hard work, so they deserve the perks! :)

Some cruel colleagues think I am in business for the frequent flyer points and miles.
Our family think we are never home....quite untrue as often we are home and they are away.

I got my FIL into point collecting via CC signups. He has churned through all of the major CCs and Qantas Assure health insurance over the past 18-24 months which has given him a balance of just over 1mil QFF points.

He does intend to use them for flights but always has excuses as to why he hasn't booked anything yet.
Part of the fun is contemplating all the potential destinations you can get to with them and, more importantly, how you will.

Is it a problem if you start planning your holidays based on where you can fly F to and get the best redemption value?

I’m just back from my first F experience on SQ and there’s no going back to J as long as F is available on that route. On average it is 50% more points and sometimes less than that relative to J. Like others in this thread, I have more points than I can spend at the moment so am always looking for good ways to spend them.

I collect every point I can but won't pay more than a 1.5% surcharge.
When I had my own business, it was a points bonanza!
Nothing irks me more than when +1 pays cash but best to keep the peace.

My biggest concern is that we are now down to our last few million.

When I drop off the perch Buzzard I feel confident Mrscove will quickly run the points stash down and then she will pay cash for tickets. One son will be a big help in the run down and the second son will learn quickly too.

My husband was at his quarterly Super health check and seminar yesterday and they were discussing living "modestly, comfortably" ect in retirement (hes 56/no longer working).

He got extra free goodies for his "we collect points to pay for travel" input. He even made me cancel a car hire booking and rebook for a 5x points deal last night.

The dear Mrs11 has learned that the Qantas mall must be checked when making purchases online. Ticked over 750k points this month on the way to the target of 834k (3xJ PER-HKG-JFK return)!

You may want to consider adding another 6k points and booking the “RTW” award and adding in some more flights.

In my trip to New York I found myself talking to a gastroenterologist from Melbourne. Instead of talking about colonoscopies we talked about ATO and credit cards. Well that’s better than him telling me about his bum gun.

It is in the back of my mind! Will see what Mrs 11 and Jnr11 can tolerate.

We find that getting 3 seats is a pain, hence one of us has flown on different days in the past. Will see what pops up closer to time.

Had a meeting with a customer today for 2.5 hrs today.

45 min was spent on how he too could earn points and travel business, walked away with an order and more to come lol
Non-business discussions are the best ways to build relationships quickly. Good work!
