A new survey request this morning.
I got as far as the second page which asks for detailed thoughts on the P1 experience, so I'll have to ponder on that for a while.
Anyone else? Perhaps we can compare notes.

Got the survey this morning too, will have a look at this later on today/tonight.

I like surveys :)

Completed the survey, basically my main comments where that WA doesnt really get any benefit from the P1 program, yeah we get the odd event to a pop star, but thats about it. It asked why I hadnt visited the MCA lounge & purely stated that there were more places in australia than sydney & that maybe other cities should get something like that too.

Overall I'm happy with the program, but it can get made so much better, one thing I mentioned was even a phone call from the SST every so often to see if theres something they can do for us, or even a hello, hows things, etc, sometimes its those little things that can make a big difference. Mentioned the best benefit was the seat selection at time of booking.

That would be really good but as a SFSC, I have no prospect of getting to P1 - but I am looking for sponsors :p.

Sigh... will just have to keep setting up those seat alerts in EF to get that move from 2A to 1A or K - but strike rate is near 100% :D.

What sort of thing would they ask you in a randomly timed phone call? Howzit going

Exactly that, being friendly, asking if theres any special requests for your next flight,or if there are any events you want us to look out for, may it be cricket, pop star or maybe a night out on QF at the rock pool. Im not saying they should call everyweek but once every 2-3 months would be nice, depending on travel patterns.

Isnt that what the P1 program is about? Going above and beyond, personally I love having chats with anyone from QF any time even if its about nothing in particular. Just a freindly chat.

I think it's a marketing scheme to try to make high spend customers feel they are getting something extra but knowing that most of them don't actually want or need anything extra at all. Most of the 'perks' are essentially cost free to QF and the few that do have a direct cost to QF like the MCA lounge in Sydney are mostly used by Qantas PR and execs to loll around and do corporate entertaining.

I found questions were perhaps a bit vague in some cases.

"Has Platinum One met your expectations?"
Well... yes and no. Some areas have exceeded them and others have massively failed. So the answer to this question doesn't give any meaningful insights. No questions later on drilled down to this level either.

Another question asks about Ground Crew recognising Platinum One status over your Platinum status.
I mean, the answer can't be pinned on one of 5 choices. Clearly ground crew understand P1 is higher but it's not always translated into a meaningful benefit or something where you could confidential say - Yes, P1 has more ground crew recognition than Platinum. It's more like - When you're P1 and see the ground/air crew often you both recognise faces and are more willing to go the extra mile for that person. In this respect's not status based but rather how familiar you are to the staff member. This is how non-status flyers can get into lounges/get great seats and why staff upgrade their friends (sure they need a reason to upgrade but it's not difficult to come up with something in case of auditing).

Other questions like P1 redeeming award points, spoken as if it's a benefit - where there is evidence of this being a Platinum and above thing with no real proof of any difference between Plat and Plat1. Infact when I was Gold many years ago the phone agent said they could open seats for a Gold member who was "...coming into Platinum shortly".

MCA lounge questions made me laugh. I'm sure it's a running joke internally that nobody is game to admit is a bit of a fail.
Also noted a question about Platinum One influencing my decision to travel with Jetstar. Really? lol...

I feel the questions could have been more targeted to the individual categories/groups members fall under so that they could extract the data they are seeking for each audience segment.

Anyway. Good that loyalty wants the feedback.
Should have been done better (perhaps the research company doesn't understand as much as QFF knows?) - in a way that could turn the analytics into something that would directly impact the bottom line in a meaningful way.

I will have fun filling this survey out after reading the first question. There is really no difference between P1 and WP IMHO (and only a slight difference to SG when travelling in J/F). The extra 'service' QF provide P1 when handling delays etc should be given to WP in any case (and I have received before prior to P1 being introduced). Although QF 'monitor' my P1 travel, they generally cannot do anything about my travel except tell me I am going to be late (and I used to get a text message telling me that anyway).

The only tangible benefits that P1 get, like free international Y exit row seating and fee free classic award seat booking etc, were actually WP benefits before QF 'enhanced' them. Also, most of the P1 in-flight benefits do not apply to the EK codeshare services that I am forced to use ex PER (no preallocated exit row/bulkhead seating in Y, no preferential J/F point upgrades (or any point upgrades for that mater), not able to release any award seats on EK services etc).
