Platinum One people - what’s your job/business?

There seem to be a lot of people with very high status on this forum (naturally). For me it’s hard enough to just try to aspire to Qantas Gold one day.

For the people that have top tier statuses, like Platinum One, I assume you travel every week? What do you do for work or what is your business that takes you to that level? I am really curious about how I might get there one day.
I do not travel every week. I move between Europe and Australia every month. SC from Internatioanl flights on Emirates flights as well as other codeshare partners = 90%
 
I see myself switching out to a role with less travel, maybe taking a paycut along the way.

No need to take a pay cut, just move to industry and you should at least be on even money or be able to get a pay raise. Then in your new role hire consultants to do the work ;)

Can I ask why you bother with QF then given 90% of your flights are not on QF metal so would think that any 'benefit' of P1 is largely redundant (e.g. VIP Services Team)?

Based on your travel pattern I would have thought Skywards or BAEC would have been better.

I have Skywards and Sing PPS, Qantas status is good for certain routes they dominate such as Port Moresby in addition it allows a good level of service for family based in Australia. I moved to Qantas as a primary program when Qantas was doing an evening flight direct from Mel-DXB as part of the LHR route.
 
I’ve just come back from an APAC trip so just catching up on the thread. Perhaps in the future, based off of the sentiment here, roles that require travel will become increasingly difficult to fill post Covid. It would be curious to chart P1 numbers over the next few years as people and organisations transition to post Covid.

Indeed. Commercial in Confidence though. You'd need an insider to spill the beans though.

IIRC there were around 3k anecdotally 7 or 8 years ago, then I think it increased by a few thousand at some point and the status extensions have obviously kept a few extras not earning. As I note though this is anecdotal chatter and not anything solid so.. grain of salt.
 
I have been a P1 since inception in 2012. Pre-Covid I looked after early staged US Tech firms across Asia Pacific & Japan. From 1994 - 2006 it was Y domestic and J for international > 8 hrs. From 2006 - 2019 the majority of domestic and international travel were in Y or PE. Between 2003 - 2015 my annual QF SC count varied from 5,000 - 15,000+. I now have just on 110,000 LT SC's. Post-Covid the roles I've had have been AU/NZ based. I should make P1 again for 2024/25. From June 2025, unless something changes, I will drop from P1 and have LTP to keep me going..... Based on the QF LTP threshold of 75,000 SC's I'm not anticipating QF introducing a LT P1 status anytime soon...

I'm reasonably sure there are a number of QF FF's with 100K+ LT SC counts. With the changes in SC earning over the years on partner airlines it makes it difficult to accumulate LT SC balances of 100K+.....

That amount of travel honestly astounds me - 15,000 SC's in one year! The fact that a lot of that from your comments is / was done in Y and PE is even more impressive (and at the same time I pity you in a way). I love to travel, but certainly not that much.

I love travelling and getting to know flight people, including in the lounges. I travel Y exclusively and once a month trans Tasman with some DOM flights added on. I can never achieve P1 status but can guarantee WP if I have no interruptions during the year. Christmas is a big hold-up but manageable. Last year I overdid the WP target but didn't make P1. This year family events may limit WP but can fall back on LTG. One strategy is to have full flex flights. Not always possible on business travel, even in Y, but I can always get a few. Good luck to those of you aspiring to P1 and best wishes to those who can plan and achieve P1. LTP next year!

I was invited to a QF hosted lunch last year, it was a 50 years lounges thing. Anyhow the QF rep at the lunch said he was the person who made the recommendation to set the bar at 75K SC for LTP. When pressed from those at the lunch he did state that there were quite a number of QFF's who had SC balances north of 150K, some above 250K and a few with 300K+. It was obvious the QF rep was (edit) Not going into any detail so we just got on with dessert and coffee.

Those balances wouldn't surprise me at all....
