Platinum lounge access

Can I beleive that now as a WP, I can rock up to the F Lounge in SYD, flying VS, and expect access? I know it says I can, I just know from experience you give your boarding pass to gain access at the International QP.

Likewise, when I return on VS, at 6.00am, I can go in if it is open and shower before heading to the office?

Re your first question - technically you have access. I've never tried it. You may be asked to slum it at the J lounge depending on how many pax there are, and their general mood.

Re you second question (about the return) - Good luck in getting to departures level at Syd Intl. Assuming you're talking about the Syd T2/T3 lounges, I can't see them having any issues (if you can get your luggage through security at the domestic airport, and really want to travel over there via the train/bus/taxi).

I am not sure whether being WP would get you into the QF F Lounge when travelling on an airline other than QF... I have called QF and asked about this and been told no and yes to the same question!

The bigger issue for your planned trip is that the QF lounge is in a different pier at SYD T1 to where the VS plane departs... So even if you were able to get into the lounge, it wouldn't help as you would be on the wrong side of the airport...!

Yes, can access when travelling with other airlines.

Yes you can. I have used QF F lounge when flying NZ or EK out of MEL (this was before NZ's new lounge opening when they used UA and EK uses CX).

They do ask for BP for statistical reasons and warn no flight boarding call.

Not an issue - access is available between the ENTIRE international terminal, so someone travelling on a flight departing from Pier C can easily access the QC located in Pier B. The only issue here is access on arrival, which will entail crossing over to T2 or T3.

Departing on a VS flight and accessing the QC (for a Platinum) is ridiculously easy though, just remember that you won't get boarding calls.

If you already have access to the NZ lounge at SYD (flying business class or *G status) then I'd just use the NZ lounge, which is better than QF int lounge anyway and saves the hassles of switching piers, risking missing flight, etc.

Sadly I don't have access... I am travelling on some tickets that I won (hence travel on NZ), so I will see what time I have at the airport to see where I end up.

Platinum status allows access to QF F lounges regardless of the airline being flown. Have used this access without problems (or questions) in Sydney, Hong Kong and Singapore. Staff have had no problems with taking guests in as well when flying with another airline.
