Platinum buys ticket - do I benefit

If a platinum member purchases a ticket for me with his points, and is not travelling with me, am I able to use the lounge, get upgrades etc because of his status.

I have a ticket bought with points by this person, and it has his FF number recorded next to my name.

Any one know the answer to that one? I suspect it is a simple, nothing for me unless he travels with me..

Hi,

That depends, if its a Y (economy) ticket then no you will have no lounge access.
If its a J or F (business or first class) then you should have access to the lounge that gets access occording to your class of travel.

Upgrades on award tickets are pretty unlikely no matter who's name the ticket is in, what their status is etc.
