OK, yes, this is another "wow I just made platinum for the first time" threads but I am amazed at how happy I feel about it!

I joined QFF in 1997 and was bronze until a couple of years ago, when to my surprise I became silver without having realised it would happen. I managed to get to gold in October last year and at the time I thought that was pretty amazing and never would have thought I'd get there.

On 20 June husband and I flew to Sydney to visit his mum (she's just had open heart surgery) and on the way back he asked how many SC I needed for platinum. I said I thought it was 210 but my year ended on 30 June so I didn't think it would be feasible. Over the next couple of days I remembered I'd received a double status credit offer - I remembered because I got double SC for the trip to SYD on 20 June. So there was another 20 SC off the total needed, bringing it to 190, half of which is 95.

So after looking at various options I booked one JASA and one YASA. The first was in J CBR - SYD return on 24 June. I realised that there was enough time (just!) to fly SYD - CBR return in between the two flights, in Y. So, as I have mentioned here already, I spent 24 June flying CBR - SYD - CBR - SYD - CBR and managed not to miss a single flight :)

So I eagerly awaited the change of my status to Platinum. One of my J flights appeared in my account. Then one of the Y flights. Then the DSCs for each of them. But what about the rest? My year ended 90 SC short of platinum :(

I rang QF yesterday and a nice man helpfully looked into it and did something to my account and finally, today, I checked my account to see that lovely word "Platinum".

Yes this is yet another "wow I just made platinum for the first time" thread but since you guys are the only ones who understand, I had to do it!

Do I need to be platinum - not really! Husband is platinum and 95% of the time I would travel with him. Hopefully being double WP will push us up the upgrade to F list for our trip to the USA later in the year. Extra FF points. I'm not sure how else it might benefit me, but if feels good!

Congrats and welcome to the club. Enjoy the benefits in your own right and here's hoping those upgrades come through for you.

Oh and I'm sure you realise, attaining Platinum is an achievement, retaining it is a commitment.

Congrats!! What a crazy JASA,YASA you did there, try explaining that to your friends... :)

Congrats and welcome. Enjoy the personal greetings from attentive CSM's. Don't hold your breath on the op-ups, the air is thin enough at WP already.

Congrats! Just hit for the first time myself and will be taking my first platinum flights on Friday (sadly only MEL-SYD-MEL) but looking forward to seeing it on my BP :)

Congratulations Mardi I'm very happy for you reaching WP.

My situation was brighter when my new WP card pack arrived today.

Had a double DC offer few years back been SG ever since and we have enjoyed the benefits it brings both here and OS. I recently received another SC offer so did a JASA to AKL and PER with business in both, the latter Mrs Lime decided to come at last minute as a YASA, we had a fabulous few days in Fremantle, now I'm happy to finally be a WP until 1st Nov 2014.

Congrats and welcome to the Platinum family!

Hope your mother-in-law is making a speedy recover. Please pass on my regards.

Looking forward to your reports of using the Platinum benefits during your 5% away from Mr Mardi.

Fingers crossed for your upgrades later this year. :)

Make sure you book some Int flights and enjoy those Flounges.........maybe even some Dom ones too:D

Enjoy!

Hahaha thanks everyone, I knew you'd understand!

BTW I'm not hoping for op-ups but the points upgrade lottery.

RedRoo, thank you I will pass on your regards to MIL. She is home now and happy to be out of hospital/rehab.

I'm loving it myself. I got silver one year quiet surprising after a US holiday and a whole bunch of AA flights (all down the back no less!). And I think the addiction started there... ;-)

Congratulations on achieving Platinum status for the first time.
