Plat renewal Question

Hi guys - first time plat flyer, earnt the hard way .

So I made Platinum in September, and am only 150 SC"s required to renew.

My question is, if I make those 150 SC's before Sept (which i will easily do), will my 2nd year of Platinum start when i hit the 800 additional SC's, or will year 2 commence from Sept as per my status review date (when I upgraded Gold to Plat)

If it's the latter - then I guess once i've hit my 800 - any extra SC's earnt between then and September would in theory be wasted right? As they wouldn't count towards year 2's requal? If so I reckon I may give Qantas a go and try and get status with them

Or have I got it all wrong?

It will commence from your status review date

So once you hit Plat you are best flying with Qantas IF IF IF that is going to suit you better

You would retain WP until September 2014.

Actually I've never flown Qantas, and my girlfriend has companion gold (and doesn't really need Plat) so I reckon i might use the flights I have to take between requal and sept to see if i can get any decent status with QF. Newbie question - can I earn QF SC's with Jet*?

Remember though that any additional SCs can count either towards family pooling or partner gold and partner platinum. They need not be wasted.

Yeah true 777 - but I just talked my way into getting Companion Gold (even though I haven't requal'd in Plat yet ) so that's mroe than sufficient for my girlfriend who barely ever flies without me

You can earn SCs and points on J* but you normally need to pay a bit more to add a 'bundle' in order to do so.
