Not good. Hoping for the best for those involved.

It is quite close to the runways. It is just adjacent to the threshold of Runway 35.

Looks like a RW17 departure with an EFOTO then with a slight left turn.

Yes, I wasn't aware there was a north-south runway, have driven past it enough times, even a couple of weeks ago, hubby and I went to Coolaroo to look at The Castle before it's demolished, but never seen anything taking off or landing in that direction. Plane nerd fail for sure.

Staying OT for a moment. 35 approaches can affect Melbourne Airport so 26 is used extensively and also because 26 has the ILS.

Horrible for all involved. Five people on board, Im hoping for good news for them and their families.

Yea, I wonder if it's a 26 departure with a left turn? I don't imagine a King Air would need much runway to get airborne.

ABC is reporting the plane was operated by a company called "Australian Corporate and Leisure Aviation".

Also the Tullamarine and Calder Freeways are both closed in the area, so if anyone is heading to either airport, you'll need to go a different way. (probably the Ring Rd, so I don't envy you)

Edit: they are now reporting that the freeway is partially open now, though I'd still avoid it if possible for the next hour or so.

I have Ch 9 on and it's full of waffle. It now is supposedly a single engine king air. (King air are all twins)
