It is odd but I always try to respect people's choices. Can only imagine over exposure as reasons not to return to Amsterdam.
And as a Perthian, I can't imagine getting sick of Sydney. Heading back again in a few weeks. Of course I'd never live there though.

Yes, I don't have any problem with the list. People's experiences of places can vary widely. I would've liked to have heard about the reasons for some of the places both good and bad - that way it can help me build a picture and decide whether to consider visiting.
Many of the ones on the avoid list I would agree with as I didn't enjoy my experience there though some I really enjoyed.
You're right over exposure might be a reason for some. For example, I love Paris and have visited numerous times; now though I think there are other places I would like to go (though of course would not knock back a free trip there if it came up )

I can't get enough of Japan and the only thing stopping me from spending every holiday there is the desire to see new places... always loved Hong Kong too, and of course New Zealand and Aus - particularly south west WA, Tasmania, SEQ from sunshine C to border including hinterlands, Melbourne to Adelaide stretch, granite belt and the drive down to hunter, there are so many great areas of AUS. Also Northern Portugal is a great place to relax. Finally Yorkshire - the dales, moors, coastline - it's not called Gods country without reason.

I would be perfectly happy to never visit Nairobi, Dubai or Goa again....

+1 on coughet, maybe would go to some of the islands away from the main busy town. We had a terrifying experience on our last night in coughet that escalated extremely quickly and left us rather scared.

Will never go back to Las Vegas in summer! specially with kids (5,17)

I would love to go back to Japan, the Basque Country in Spain and Paris

Prague - thought it was overcrowded, surly locals and uninspiring foods
Bali - my least fav Asian country. Went 2 years ago after avoiding if forever and it did not float my boat at all. Food seems blah compared to other Asian countries.
Barcelona - can't understand the fuss about the place. Give me Seville ir Granada any day of the week.
Sydney - just don't think much of the place at all

More of Germany and Switzerland, places we have been going to annually. We did Iceland in 2016 but need to return at a warmer time of the year to experience other side of the island. Same with Norway.

We loved the B&Bs in Southern Ireland and we would do that again on a driving holiday.
I am a fan of Los Angeles and Mrscove loves London.
Sydney can be really good but it can get like Singapore on humid summer days.

Funny, my brother lives in Ireland and have visited several times and also a few times before he moved there. It just doesn't grab me and not the least the all pervading smell of peat stoves in the villages - reminds me of wet woollen socks. They love it there though given his age, if they could sell up for a reasonable price, I think he would be happy to move back to Australia.

There's only one place I wouldn't go back to if I had a choice ... Dhaka (although I will be going back next month ).

I'm also not keen on going back to coughet or parts of Bali, but more than happy to go back to resorts in coughet or Bali, or some of the more remote parts only Bali (if you get the difference between the two statements).

Sometimes I think people go to Kuta or Patong and think that's representative. If you don't like drunkeness, partying, drugs and sex, and in particular you find old men all over young girls and boys confronting (which I do) best to stead well clear of the main tourist Centres in both - not to say that some of the more remote parts of both islands are actually quite nice.

Lets be pedantic then and call it my least favourite Asian destination then. Great food, well it's all down to personal preference I think it's safe to say. We were there 2 weeks and can't remember a memorable dining experience in that period. It's a big world out there and my preference is to return to countries where I have great experiences.

I enjoyed driving along the Hanseatic coastline but not overly taken with Rostock or Wismar, although buying a fish lunch straight of boats on the dock in Wismar was interesting. Loved Westphalia (Leer is pretty), Lubeck, Schwerin etc.

The scenery is important but for the most part to me it's about the local people. Try to avoid countries where the local religious custom includes a desire to if possible chop your head off, so most of the Middle East and parts of Asia and Africa I'll avoid.... this extends to airlines like QF en route to Europe who think it's great to transit what to me are loathsome places.

Only went to Bali Indonesia once and much of the countryside and wildlife is very beautiful but I found so many vile people there, I left with no respect for them and have little desire to return (see above). They trashed their own countryside and I found them corrupt, untrustworthy and dangerous. Yeah I know there are some nice ones but they aren't doing much to curb the thugs and creeps. Also NYC, an interesting city but dirty and so many rude people, pass.

Favourite destination city would be Bangkok, in no order wish to return to NZ, Vietnam, rural Germany, Alaska and Hong Kong and certain states in the US like Kentucky, Florida and Utah; wish to visit Japan, Canada, non-Moslem parts of France & same in northern Europe. Would like to travel more around Australia outside of the major cities but find it's too expensive with family & no time for a caravan tour.

Another vote for the "Hanseatic Coastline". We actually quite liked Wismar and we based ourselves there for a couple of days to visit Lubeck, Travemunde & Stralsund on day trips. We enjoyed wandering around the old town in the evenings, virtually by ourselves. The fish from the docked boats was great and we had it in both Wismar and Stralsund. That area is one we would like to visit again, especially to get onto Rugen Island as we just didn't have time last visit.

For film buffs, or film tragics, like me Wismar has another sight - if you walk through the old fortress gates - "Wassertor" - at the harbour entrance look down. There is a glass/acrylic slab insert commemorating the filming of "Nosferatu" in 1922 - a masterpiece of German expressionism directed by F.W. Murnau. The oldest extant film about Dracula - and still the best . (In order to cheat copyright they never actually used the word Dracula in the film but were rumbled and the film withdrawn for many years.)
