Places you would, or wouldn't go back to?

Places I wont go back to: Dapto.

Your choice but that's a bit harsh really. There is a great cafe in the main street, as good any any in Syd's Inner West and better than most you find down some dingy laneway in that 'other' city. There was unfortunately a chap who early last year fitted out a very nice looking restaurant/cafe a few doors down, he didn't last sadly. There are still people who refuse to believe Midnight Oil played the Dapto Leagues in '87. I was there front row, amazing gig.

I always said I wouldn't bother with LA again but I finally did it right last Nov. Highly recommend the Mama Shelter hotel Hollywood.

I wouldn't return to Bali, or Barcelona.

And I wouldn't bother with Brussels again. There was nothing wrong with it really, but it didn't seem to offer anything particularly unique or interesting.

Other than that I'd happily to return to most anywhere I've been. Especially want to do more of southern Netherlands and regional Germany.

There's not many places I would say I'd never go back to too but generally I'm a bit through with big cities. There's a pervasive sameness worldwide these days. I'm much more interested in regional and remote area travel - landscapes, vegetation/wildlife and land use (agricultural systems).

Las Vegas has to be seen once - briefly - in a lifetime and that's enough IMO.

Never been to Bali and never intend to go.

Madagascar is one place I would go back to with the aim of visiting different areas and I can't get enough of regional and remote areas in South America and Africa. Starting to eye West Africa for somewhere a little different over there.

I wouldn't go back to Kuala Lumpur or LasVegas. Neither floated my boat and there are so many places places on my list that I would like to visit.
Places we always go back to are: Bangkok (cannot get enough still and after 13 visits are going back this year again.), NYC, Carmel on the Californian coast is one of my favourite places to be, as are most places in Italy. So many places really, but these are the top ones so far.
Agree totally with Italy. Went twice last year walking in the Dolomites and the Ligurian coast. Thoroughly recommended. Also going back to Croatia this year as my last visit was fantastic. Dubrovnik and the Croatian Islands. In fact all of Croatia.I have had the opposite experience with China. I have found it enjoyable as you certainly are not in Kansas anymore. I suppose it is a better experience if you know some locals. I wouldn't choose to stay in Dubai or Indonesia again.

Yeah, would've liked some more detail as to why places were either in or out. :)

It is odd but I always try to respect people's choices. Can only imagine over exposure as reasons not to return to Amsterdam.
And as a Perthian, I can't imagine getting sick of Sydney. Heading back again in a few weeks. Of course I'd never live there though.

I agree totally re coughet and Bali , have been several times to both over the years but there are much nicer places in the world to visit. The corruption in these places seems to be getting worse. I did enjoy Chiang Mai in Thailand however but that has probably changed too.

One of our best holidays ever was South Africa, which included a safari at a private reserve bordering Kruger National Park. We also visited Zimbabwe and saw the falls and had a wonderful stay in Cape Town on the same tour. We will definitely go back one day. We will be visiting New York again this year, love that place.

Interesting that coughet and Bali are getting a pasting. Have never been to either place, and didn't really have a great desire to go there - until now.

Being a non-drinker and partier, it might be interesting to see what it is like - anything like Pattaya and Angeles City in the Philippines?

Over the last almost 40 years i have been, or will have been to these places:

Singapore, Bahrain, England, Scotland, France, Monaco, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, West Germany, Muscat, Malaysia, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, East Germany, Belgium, USA (LAX only), Thailand, Hong Kong, Philippines, (to do in 2017) - Canada, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia - sorry for any geography issues here.

Some places i have been to once or twice. After 2017 the only places i will probably return to on this list is the UK (family), Southern California, and Thailand.

There is nothing wrong with the places i have been to - it's just, been there, done that, time to move on........... The Philippines is an exception here - i didn't like it when i was there in 2015, and i believe it has only got worse since - the law and order issue.

Just my observations.
