Now getting coverage on many of the blogs. Would have to think that customs around the world will be mointering air crew more closely too as there have been a spate of incidents of late across multiple airlines.

Certainly not good for MH and it's reputation that it has been trying to recover. Could.prove to be a difficult time.

While those incidents resulted in dramatic reductions in passenger numbers, the drop in patronage was short lived.

I'm not sure...I'm actually thinking in cancelling 3 flights booked! If I'm doing that I'm sure plenty others are thinking it also. ..especially if there is choice. I want to see how MH is addressing this issue and how they are ensuring pax safety at all levels.

Nope. Same goes with alcohol over the years with pilots and crew on various carriers including an AA pilot who was jailed in Scotland after failing a test before attempting to fly an aircraft across the Atlantic. However they (MH) are the ones currently dealing with it and the coverage ..so let's see how they do it and generate customer confidence that the are dealing with it.

Don't forget the QF pilot that lost his aviation license because he was addicted to narcotics and another QF captain who was stopped by cabin crew from operating the aircraft due to alcohol just before departure

And cabin crew are not immune.

It's a universal problem.
The Malaysian version of CASA is also investigating and MH is conducting an internal review. Apart from that I doubt there will be much commentary especially as a criminal prosecution is underway.

I don't think this will make a material difference to MH. If the plane had had an accident, sure, but if you hated MH, you still hate them and your opinion is validated. If you didn't hate them, then life goes on.

That pilot, however, is not going to live long enough to see a pension.
