Pets in the Cabin - Coming soon on Virgin Australia

Now if only they'd do that for those whiney kids ...
Perhaps some warm milk and brandy one hour before the flight.
That's better than what we get in the lounge... 🙄🤦‍♂️
The number of times I've been on a flight with whiney kids and I just want to..... nothing, had better not say it.
Arghhhhhh, drives me wild and I think, shouldn't you be on JQ ;)
Not the only one there 😎

Wonder who will deal with the dog #1 and #2, or do we as no pet next flight pax or even that fllight pax, have to deal with the left overs.
I like my window seat, so that pet owner pax will have to move their pet for me to move into the window seat...
OR I could just stump up the $ and fly VA J.
Will probably do that!
---

So, do the crew now have to also cater for pet treats as well?
And what would Foofoo or Woofy like for a snack?

Pets are allocated the window seat, so you’d need to pick another row.

No issues with #1 or #2. Pets can be relieved before travel, and containers need to be waterproof.

There might be an occasional incident… we’ve seen that with service animals. But that’s just one of those things.

Oh I'd love a thread on children misbehaving on planes
Unfortunately that would be a thread that i would not be able to contribute to even with 3 kids (including twins) 😉
Phenergen
A downside is that some children can get a paradoxicalresponse from phenergan where they become agitated and restless.
So test before you go

Wonder who will deal with the dog #1 and #2,
The usual person.

And what would Foofoo or Woofy like for a snack?

Now in the US, there is a thing called PupCupᵀᴹ by Starbucks. It is basically whipped cream in a little cup. Sounds cute but beware some dogs and most cats are lactose intolerant. Too much and you can get 🤮💩. (Though the symptoms appear several hours later)

No need for the airline to food cater for the pets. Humans don't really need to eat either on short flights.

I'm not really a dog lover, well let's put it this way, it's the owners I dislike more than the dog. Just the other day I had a dog jump up onto me and muddy my clean clothes. No apology from the owner of course. Funny thing was the dog was on a lead. Sometimes I think the lead should be on the human given how much the owner submits to the needs of the dog...

I just hope the flights are well advertised as being dog friendly so I can avoid. Also, I've yet to see dogs on planes in Europe. Regarding the US, I haven't been there in decades and don't plan to visit the so called 'Freedom' people anytime soon. I don't think anyone should be taking note on how they do things anymore.

So the dogs/cats must be in their carrier, and not occupy a seat?
Havent read the rule book in regards to VA pets in cabin indepth.
What happens if owner decides on long flight, like MEL -> PER to unload poochie/kitty from pet carrier.
Or have them on seat? (((Imagine if a shrew owner buys a comfort seat and gives that to poochie/kitty))).

  • Fit comfortably in an approved pet carrier under the seat in front of you
  • Remain in their closed carrier at all times except during security screening or whilst using the animal relief areas
  • Must not enter the airport terminal outside of the carrier.

Carrier requirements

Your carrier must:
  • Be an approved pet carrier (max dimensions 44cm L x 26cm W x 28cm H)
  • Allow your pet to stand up, sit, turn around and lay down comfortably when the carrier is closed.
  • Have all but one opening secured with cable ties prior to arriving at the airport.
  • Be soft-sided, well-ventilated and escape proof

  • The carrier must remain closed and stowed under the seat in front of you until the aircraft has arrived and you’re ready to disembark.

Where you'll sit

  • As a pet-parent you'll be assigned one of our pet-friendly seats: 18A, 18F, 20A, or 20F.
  • If you’re travelling with friends or family who also have pets, you’ll all need to sit separately in the designated pet-friendly seats.

I'd ask if anyone has experience with being seated anywhere near pets in a cabin yet, but this is AFF and knowing that the pet 'rows' are beyond the Y exit rows, I suspect not and probably never will get within 10 rows.

So, has anyone taken their pet on?

I'd imagine the same as what happens as a passenger breaking any other rules on a plane. They'd get a talking to. If they don't comply they'd be forced and met by police on landing. It's not really rocket science.

No

I’ve flown Turkish airlines back in ‘92
With a variety of chickens, humans and other pets

Yep true. What if I start pissing on my seat or in the aisle because I can't be bothered heading to the lav?

LOL just trying to lighten things up a little ;)
