I’m booking a road trip in the US and want to maximise points I can earn.

Flights through VA & Delta, car through Hertz, hotels through Choice. It’s a few weeks of driving so I’m going to fill up a lot while I’m there (I use BP here in Australia). Can you suggest a way I could earn extra VFF points somehow? I’m also open to suggestions on any other way while I’m there.

Costco has cheap fuel if you are a member. Your membership in Australia works in the US.
Your RAC/NRMA gets you AAA accommodation discounts typically of 10%.
Watch out that you are not being charged foreign exchange fees on your credit card. If so paying 3 % or so to earn a Velocity point is a waste.
Just use Citibank debit or equivalent to get a correct exchange rate.
