My (adult) daughter and I are planning a trip to London and Italy over Christmas and January. I travel badly at night so was initially planning to fly Emirates from Perth.

I checked the Emirates website which stated that while Emirates allows CPAP machines to be taken onto the aircraft, they may not be used in flight. I am waiting to hear if the ban applies to using their power or if I could use my own batery pack. I am not keen on the 11 hour flight from PER TO DXB leaving PER at 0600 if I may not use my CPAP machine when I feel like a quick nap.

Now I am looking at flying PER-SIN-DXB-LHR and FCO-DXB-SIN-PER. My choices seem to be QF or SQ for PER-SIN-PER, then EK for the rest, stopping overnight in SIN and DXB.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a better routing?

A quick check of ITA's Trip Planner (http://matrix.itasoftware.com) indicates that Emirates would be your only option. I stopped looking when the suggested route was via JNB and cost in excess of $12000

Thanks for your reply, codash1099.

I went ahead and booked with EK for SIN-DXB-FCO and LHR-DXB-SIN with overnight stops in SIN and DXB. Fills all my requirements. Now I am just trying to book PER-SIN and SIN-PER using the 50 000 points which I had hoped to receive from the Qantas Ultimate American Express card promotion.

The only slight? problem is that the points have yet to pop up in my QFF account. The card was activated on March 10th and I spent the required $4000. I rang Amex and QFF in the beginning of June to see why I hadn’t received any points. Amex told me that they didn’t have my QFF number. I was rather surprised but gave the number to them again.

I was told that the next sweep was between June 4th and June 10th, so my points should be in my account on the 10th. They were not, so I rang them both on the 11th to be told that Qantas would not accept the points as there was a name mismatch. Qantas blames Amex and told me to ring Amex. Amex blamed Qantas and told me to ring Qantas. After an hour on the phone, I gave up. I was told that the points should now be transferred in the July sweep.

The PER-SIN leg I want is sitting there on the QFF site just tantalising me. The return flight I want has now disappeared but I am hopeful that I may find something suitable, if I ever get any points.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
