Hi Everyone!

I am trying to get from PERTH WA --> TEL AVIV as comfortably and cheaply as possible (surprise surprise) with nothing but 30,000 QFF points to my name.

Travelling leaving Perth 30/11/2013 and leaving Tel aviv to travel back 15/01/2014

Is it worth purchasing the maximum 100,000 US Airways miles with the current 2 for 1 deal?

My ideal itinerary is thai or cathay between perth and Bangkok and EL AL to Tel Aviv but if i could work it with points somehow that would get me business class on the longest leg of the journey i would happily go via Europe if necessary.

Any ideas?

Or if there is no way to sweeten things as far as purchasing the flight goes which program should i use to at least maximise my point earning power from the trip?

Otherwise i will just pay for a normal economy fair using my Aegean account and hopefully at least get to gold membership on the way ..

Any wisdom and input is greatly appreciated and i am more than happy to financially compensate anyone who may suggest something i end up using as stipulated in forum guidelines.

Thanks again

If you are using points for flights on One World, you can go Perth -> Dubai -> Amman -> Tel Aviv and back the same way too.

but one world doesn't have a 2 for 1 deal on purchased miles that i am aware of and i have no where near enough points for that flight.

It is also far less direct, almost double the transit time and takes me through Dubai en route to Israel. Given Israeli citizens are prohibited entrance to Dubai whilst technically not a problem whilst in transit i would rather avoid it.

You can use beta.awardtravelr.com to check availability on star alliance before deciding to buy US miles. PER-BKK-IST-TLV on TG and TK seems like a fairly direct itinerary if there is availability....

EDIT: plenty of options PER-SIN-IST-TLV on 15 November and the same route back on 15 January in both Y and J. I say go for it!

this website doesn't show how many points this trip will use though does it?

If I use the ANA website to search are the points required accurate ie: does one US AIRWAYS mile = 1 ANA point?
