I'm looking at booking a flight from Perth to NZ in April and leaning towards a daylight departure for a pleasant change. One of the options is to pick up the 787 that comes into Perth from Paris. The schedule has it on the ground in Perth for 1 hour 45 mins, then there is about a 2 hour changeover in Sydney, with no need to change terminal, but I am just a little worried about any delay with the flight from Paris potentially affecting my flight out of Sydney. Has anyone used this flight with an onward connection? Any problems? Or has anyone flown from Paris to Perth who can comment on whether the flight arrived into Perth on time?

I have booked that one for a flight to SYD as that plane is much better than their 737.The business class seat on the 787 is much better.

It is my go to (along with QF6 ex FCO in winter) for my frequent trips to SYD, the very nice 789 is far superior to the sardine like conditions on the narrowbodies that have dominated the route since covid. The downside is 2 security checks in PER (the last being the non CT scanner take out all your tech items type), and a sometimes long wait to escape immigration in SYD (though this is irrelevant in your case). In answering your question I have never had a significant delay (including the erstwhile LHR-PER-MEL QF10), and your transfer in SYD will be very quick (transit security only in same terminal, which as almost always very quiet), unlike the usual PER - NZ situation of getting the bus across to T1 (which can be very delayed), and then doing the often very busy immigration/security thing once there. If the flights are on the same PNR you will be looked after in any case, and there are usually plenty of alt flights across the ditch. My opinion would be do it.
Also, if you have any form of lounge access, the T3 int lounge in PER is very nice, particularly when the weather is fine and the roof of the outdoor terrace is open!

And if the inbound CDG is canx or badly delayed what do people think QF would do to get you to AKL? Y class via anywhere in the back of a 737? 🙄🤔
