Thats not what im saying at all. Just if there is a lounge for FIFO people then they should use that over another lounge. Call me a snobby asshole all you want but the fact is that the lounges are over crowded and it needs to be addressed.

And I think that's where the misunderstanding is. It's not a lounge for "FIFO people". It's a lounge for flights departing from that terminal. And not everyone on those flights is a FIFO worker.

I also take issue with the fact you suggest people on paid business class fares shouldn't be allowed access to the business class lounge if they're in hi-viz. Who, if not the people paying for the business class fares (as opposed to those getting upgraded on whatever basis), should get access to the business lounge? I find that comment farcical to be honest.

I'm not denying the lounge is overcrowded and it seriously needs addressing, but I don't think this is the solution. Not by a long shot.

I have a Zegna suit, very rarely wear it, I have a few Boss suits worth a couple of K each, I even have a Versace suit worth a lot more. I earn high 6 figures, would call my self respectable, and more often than not I wear hi vis in the Perth QP, not because I choose to, but because thats what my job dictates. Should I be classed as scum because my job requires me to wear a particular type of clothing? Should I be outcast to a different lounge because you don't like my clothing? Its not dirty, its clean, so no problem there. What if I don't like your jeans, your dress or your suit, could I then demand that you head off to a different lounge?

Lets look at it another way, my company is spending tens of millions of dollars every year on flights with Qantas, building airstrips, chartering planes and paying a hefty price to balance out your discount economy flights, maybe the fluro brigade should have a business lounge and the non worthy people in civilian attire should stick to the QP? I mean we are worth more to the airline financially right?

If I ever had to wear Flouro gear I certainly would not wear it in the Lounge so, in that respect I agree with Danny09

May I ask why? In my case I often travel up and back on day trips, hence I don't need another set of clothes. My work clothes aren't red dirt stained (too much of an office johnny) and carrying a 2nd set (say tailored trousers, business shirt and compatible shoes) for 40min in the lounge would just be a nuisance.

In saying that I usually slip a set of cargo shorts and a tee shirt in for the trip back as there is no lounge in PBO or ZNE (my two most frequent destinations).

I am shattered about the fluro debate ... most of my wardrobe is from the 80's so it is all fluro baby! :)

Relax with the HiVis workwear. You are all heading off to work and that is very good for our country.
I travel in comfortable casual clothes and I rarely wear the cashmere jacket and certainly not on a plane.

Im not classing anyone as scum & never would I for people I have never met. I dont doubt that your job requires you to wear that type of clothing. The only thing im saying is there should be a dress standard, & to me high viz clothing brings down the mood of the lounge (not the people, the clothing) If you dont like my jeans, or shirt or what ever I may wear, you can gladly tell me about it, & ask me to leave.....& if "your company" is paying so much to qantas & spending millions, then maybe building a new lounge just for yous would be fine. I dont mind going to just a Qantas Club instead of a J lounge. Maybe the answer would be to have the J Lounge in T3, with the majority of the FIFO flights, & I'll stay in the QP with all the none flouro attired people??? & once the boarding annoucement is made then I'll head off to T3 as 95% of my flights are to PHE or KGI.

Didn't you know the new clothing style in WA,

Hi Viz Mate.

Between about 6am and 7am then there is a lot of hi-viz but by 7:00am most of the hi viz crowd have left.

I have used the Perth lounge a few times now and it isn't that bad.

Wow, a DYKWIA. Wow, a high 6 figure income, what about 850 per year. What is the name of 'your' company that spends tens of millions on flying with Qantas, enquiring minds need to know.

Matt, the humble railroad worker.

I may be going over old ground but in the Perth QP last Friday early, there were lots of High Vis types, no problem at all with that. I prefer a neat High Viz outfit to boardies, thongs and singlet any day. I've done a bit of FIFO and it's not all beer and skittles, that's for sure. The problem was the group next to us seemed to think they were on site already and their language was pretty full on. It was f*ck this and f*ck that, etc. Could have been suits talking the same way of course, the point being people should behave appropriately for the situation they are in, regardless of who they are and how they dress and they should be judged and treated accordingly. Surely all we are looking for is a pleasant lounge experience for everyone ?

Can I ask you a personal question danny09?

Were "any" of your flights on QF paid for by someone other than yourself? (ie, work)

It would appear that this whole thread is driven by those who want to discriminate QP access solely on the basis of colour........ (of someone's shirt). Why stop at the lounge? Should people of the wrong colour (of shirt) be forced to sit at the back of the plane and use a different toilet?

I do not wish to belittle those who have suffered racism over their lifetimes but the parallels with this 'debate' are striking.

How so? You could explain your comments..... I dont know how it is, as I dont use the Lounge in Flouro clothes, never have, never will.

So you travel in uniform when you are flying for work?
What difference is it to those who have to be in hi-viz? If it is clean and tidy, what is the issue?

No I dont travel (as in fly) in my uniform to work.
Clean & tidy is not always the case though. People flying in from, lets say PHE-PER-MEL, after a half/full days work. Its not pleasant.

To tell you the truth, when I go anywhere I just don't like looking at really bright fluoro colours.
