Makes you wonder if they will ever get it finished!!!

The arrival at Perth Airport of the world's biggest passenger plane, the 517-seat A380, has been delayed again because the completion of the boarding gate complex has been pushed back to March.
Originally, Perth Airport promised Emirates that it would have the A380 boarding facility ready by this month but in December the airport confirmed a five-month delay.

Perth Airport chief executive Brad Geatches said this week that Emirates has been advised that while the actual gate complex would be delivered by the end of November "there are a number of other elements that impact the passenger experience that require additional time".

Maybe they need that long to read the installation manual?

Maybe they're trying to figure out if they can actually deal with that many PAX coming through with other flights....code for we need more immigration staff or time to expand other parts of the facility such as toilets or fire safety, perhaps.

I think they are talking about the expanded or new Emirates lounge not being open till March etc, but why wait till all that is complete before you bring hte A380 here, i'm sure some of the present third world facilities will do most people until then... :)

As for throughput, i think i read in a publication on the 50th anniversary of Perth airport that the place was designed to be able to handle 2 747s arriving at the same time, although there wouldn't be that many times now when its that busy and so maybe they have let things wind down a bit, there are certainly usually quite a few booths in immigration when you arrive that are empty or closed... You'd think finding the staff should be an easier process than having to build infrastructure, and they have been talking about the A380 coming to Perth for years, so its hardly something sprung on them out of the blue...

I can't see the Per International airport loading up an a380 load of pax. Heck I have NEVER seen then use a dual aerobridge.

Come on Perth! You are all always complaining about the lack of decent international services, but meet us halfway why don't you!

Seems the domestic market is getting much more attention at the moment, despite the sudden downturn in the resources industry.
