And of course we couldn’t leave the area without visiting at least one winery. Called in at Cellar Door – Howard Park Wines for a tasting and to pick up a few bottles. We’d last been here a decade ago, pre-children (a very different trip).

Time to wrap up this TR: on our last night we had a babysitter booked and headed out for dinner with our friends at The Old Synagogue in Freo: https://www.theoldsynagogue.com.au/



Kicking off with a pre-dinner drink at the hidden bar in the basement. Through this “door”:

Then upstairs to Tonic + Ginger for Asian Fusion dinner. Looks like I was too busy at dinner to take any photos, but it was a lovely way to cap off our stay here.

Then it was time to head back East. Stopped off for a late lunch halfway to the airport and went for a walk down to the river:





Then on to PER. I only had enough QF points to get us one way, so we’re in the cheap seats for the return journey on VA. VH-IJU was our ride for the return to MEL.



But first the VA lounge. Very quiet on this Sunday arvo, but one of the better food selections I’ve seen in a VA lounge recently. Particularly enjoyed the caramel slices next to the coffee station.

VH-IJU is one of the ex-Silk Air birds. If you can’t be in J, then row 3 on these is the next best thing. Legroom for miles!



(That said, it does continue my recent 100% record since I jumped back up to WP of flying exclusively on VA birds without wifi…)
