Looks like the SQ Perth lounge will be closed for 'maintenance' from 15 February 2016 to 11 March 2016.

I assume this will be a minor renovation..... Or could be taking a page out of the QF book to close the lounge (J Dom lounge) during a quieter time of year.

Luckily I am travelling each side of the closure so will have a look on 24 March when I am off to HKG.

I might be travelling out of Perth during the renovation, I see that SQ will give a voucher to passengers. Any ideas from a local in Perth where that voucher may be for?

The only other lounges are quantas and emerites I think, I flew j on China southern out of Perth once and we got a voucher for quantas lounge.

I wish they'd just negotiate lounge access elsewhere, but I assume the capacity just isn't there.

Maybe they used group buying power with QF and will be installing a sandwich press too...

More seriously, I thought the lounge was quite decent. Very small, but decent selection of food and drinks.

Jokes aside, this is annoying. I want to book a flight via PER on the 11th but this removes one of the nice parts of the journey in Y. Might have to re-work this plan.

Yikes! This frightened me. Got a trip coming up within that closure time. Wandered off to the SQ site to see if they were covering lounge access to another lounge rather than just giving me a pizza voucher and, thanks goodness, looks like they are open again:

The SilverKris Lounge at Perth International Airport was originally scheduled to be closed for maintenance works from 15 February 2016 to 11 March 2016. It will now reopen ahead of schedule on 01 March 2016 from 1115 hrs.

I meant to update this thread the other day, I was there on Friday night and was given the voucher pack.
The voucher pack was $35 in $5 vouchers for use in most of the food and beverage outlets in the terminal. I used mine at the café in front of the SQ lounge.

Thank god for that!

I was in the PER lounge on Thursday night and I have to say that I do not know what they did for a few weeks........

Oh really?

Surely they have at least improved the catering? And they must have added extra bathrooms?

I've not been overly impressed with either the BNE or the PER SQ lounges. I'd had hopes the overhaul would be in the "major" category.

I fly from BNE monthly so am used to that lounge and the factilities, I might fly from Perth once a year to Singapore.
I seem to recall the Perth lounge had no shower which give BNE a big plus IMO.

BNE is usually crowded these days though.....
The cognac served in BNE is not of a high enough standard either...

I cant see any difference at all.

However, no complaints from me really ... an extra toilet would have been good, as having only the one when the lounge is full creates long lines. I've always found the food to be good in the SQ lounge, certainly good compared to the other lounges both Int and Dom in PER.

Feels about equivalent to the Gold Kris lounge in SQ to me - so I guess not the full Silver Kris experience, but again, PER doesn't ever seem to lead in these things.

Carpet looks new. Chairs different?

Food much better than the QF lounge - much much better.....
