Hi All,

Long time no post.

Planning to take a trip with the wife in November to the USA and see that Air New Zealand is doing a promo of $300 off during selected dates.

I priced up an itinerary PER > AKL > LAX > JFK for about $3500 return per person.

Granted, that only the AKL > LAX leg is PE, and the rest is economy.

Is this a decent price for PE these days. I haven't flown for a few years and dread having to do a long haul in economy. I can see that Virgin is marginally cheaper but am not able to find much reviews of their PE compared to ANZ.

I have flown ANZ a few years ago and their service was excellent.

So my main questions are:

-Is this a good price for PE?
-Is the Air New Zealand Space seat worth the extra price on the long haul?
-What is the Virgin PE product like in comparison?

Thanks all!

I can't compare to the Air NZ PE product as I've never flown it but I have done SYD - LAX in VA PE several times and I have been very happy with it every time.

It it would be nice to see a better meal choice than Y - more akin to J meal but not a big deal for me.

I think PE from AU to USA is overpriced compared to a full business class offering.

So my main questions are:

-Is this a good price for PE?
-Is the Air New Zealand Space seat worth the extra price on the long haul?
-What is the Virgin PE product like in comparison?

If you can afford around $400 extra (or maybe use points for an award) - you can get business class return on Fiji Airways for around $3500 from East coast Australia to LAX. (The $400 would be for your return connecting flight in economy ex PER to East Coast)
