PC POWER OUTLETS ON QF

Am I am able to use an ipod power adapter in the PC power in QF J class in a 747. The QF webpage says it provides 110V AC (60 Hz) power and accepts most household power plugs including: Australian 2 or 3 pin, European 2 pin, Japanese 2 or 3 pin and USA 2 or 3 pin. Has anyone used it.

Even though the ipod has a small screen it only has a 2 hour battery life if watching a movie, and I appreciate I have the option to watch many other inflight movies but just want to know. I only recently purchased the ipod and have an in car charger for when I arrived in SFO, just need to know if I am confined to music during the flight.

I don't understand the question , you have given your own answer. As long as the ipod will operate on 110V AC then you can use it

sometimes when i know i want to use my ipod for a while (movies etc) i will plug my laptop in and then plug my ipod into my laptop and power it from there.

i have never had a challenge with this.

couple of things though, i have a small laptop that fits comfortably on the floor/side lockers of the upstairs J cabin. i can comfortably run all of this and still sleep/lie on my skybed uninhibited.

Amperage not voltage is the main issue as the QF system is limited to 70 watts from memory. An Ipod will draw nowhere near that amount so you should be safe.

Thanks for your replies. As it is a holiday I will definitely not have a laptop, just the power adapter and as this is the first time I have taken an ipod with me its good to know I it will work.

Note that in my experience, the power outlest on the Skybeds and new F suite are more reliable when using a US type plug than with an Aussie plug. The socket is designed to take an array of different type of connectors. So I generally use a US adapter for my Aussie plug and find it is more reliable. The Aussie plugs just don't always make contact between pins and socket.
