... to try their lunch time menu.
SYD - SIN is the plan.
A very expensive trip, if this does come to fruition for me, but would like to spend lunch time in the SYD QF F lounge. This will be a plan down the track a bit.
Due to my work situation, going to the US where QF provides an actual F service is off totally till I one day retire, a long way to go.
Option of course is to go to AKL on EK metal QF flight number to try the QF SYD F lounge breakfast, but maybe would like to try the lunch.
Will not ever make it to QF WP/P1 or CL level.
Any QFF members at NB/PS/SG level ever flew BA F to try the SYD QF F lounge lunch time?
Any feedback, thanks.
Am QF SG (probably drop to PS in 18 months or so) and no plans to join BAEC.

The F lounge is nice, as lounges go, but why not just go to a nice restaurant for lunch and a day spa afterwards if desired? It would definitely work out cheaper than paying for F simply to go to the lounge.

There are several NZ bound flights in the evening, if the purposes are only for F lounging for the lunch menu why not go for one of those? Would be a lot more cost effective, and only 10 SC less each way and that's in J.

And how would the OP, being only SG, be able to access the F lounge when travelling J on those evening flights?

Because AP is only SG. So no F lounge unless flying one world or EK F.

Because hitting the QF Flounge should be on every flying enthusiasts bucket list? :)

Poochie JL are running F class from later next month SYD-NRT on the 777.
This will cost 60K AA miles One Way. I think this is by far the best way for you to get into the F Lounge and also experience what is simply a superb F product with JL (not to mention the Salon you'll be sipping en-route).

EDIT: you'll only get breakfast in the F Lounge but even with this I'd still pick that option

Surprisingly, first class return is fairly reasonable at around $4000 (only slightly more than business class). And return is almost the same price as one way.

If you are going to choose that option as a special treat, watch out (a) for specials (including the 'buy-business, fly-first one-way' for free) and (b) for package holidays. BA Holidays has a special last year IIRC where the Raffles Singapore was some crazy cheap price like a couple hundred dollars a night in conjunction with BA fares.

However - all that being said and done... there is little value in flying first class to Singapore to experience the F lounge lunch menu. You'd be better off going to Rockpool direct and having a great meal there for around 1/20th the cost. BA F is a reasonable product - but there are no bells and whistles, so you need to set your expectations accordingly. Plus the flight is so short if the purpose is to maximise the F experience.

For the same price as your trip to SIN in BA F you could fly jetstar to Hawaii and jet around the USA domestic first class and get yourself platinum... thereby enjoying the MEL and SYD F lounges for a whole year (or even two if you qualify at the start of a membership year).

(edited: just saw PF's reply - a fantastic idea!!)

The AA miles option would also work for the BA flight if lunch is what you're really after.
JL F is IME far superior to BA F though.

While the Qantas F-lounges in MEL and SYD are certainly nice, what's it worth just to go there? If your flights are on time, I'd take $100 cash over the F-lounges any day. But they are good and they are better when your flight is delayed for hours.

No doubt JL F is awesome but if the OP's main purpose is to maximise their time in QF F lounge then it's not the right flight to take. It departs too early so can only have breakfast, which is nice but not really that impressive IMO. Also, the spa will not be open.

I think the BA flight to SIN would be more suitable for exploring the F lounge properly. Sure, I can come here and say that it doesn't worth it, it's just a lounge and so on but I've been there many times and although for me the novelty is wearing off, I can understand why others would love to check it out. It is after all one of the best airline lounges in the world, if not the...

Btw, isn't QF F to DXB 60K as well?
Flying there would allow enjoying the F lounge as well as full onboard F experience.

Do you know when these flights start? I'm flying NRT-BNE on 11 Oct and currently on QF62 as I thought the A330 Business Suites would be the best option to get back to Oz.

Obviously JL F would be much better, but I can't see those fights appear on Expert Flyer.

I think it's end of October? The QF business suites would be a good option - but substitutions can happen.

Thanks - did some more digging on EF and it appears to be from October 25th. No good for this trip but might be my new route home from the US via Asia in the future.

I can see award availability on October 26 (two seats), 27, 29, November 1 (two seats), 3 (three seats), and 4 (three seats) for starters.

In the past couple of years I've flown F on QF, BA, EK, EY, TG, CX, UA, SQ, JL, and NH, and JL and NH would have to be my favourites.
