Paying Mastercard with Amex

Hi I’m new to American Express and am trying to work out if it’s possible to pay off a credit card from bank of Melbourne with the Amex card ?
I called but they weren’t very helpful

No, you can't do that (outside of niche exceptions like balance transfer offers).

Not possible (directly). Its against credit rules or whatever its called.
Then everyone would be paying their home loans with ccs and racking up points
