Paying for Main Cabin Extra on AA flight with Australian Billing Address

Hi AFF community,

My parents are trying to pay for Main Cabin Extra seats on their AA flight from Orlando to Los Angeles.

We can select the seats fine but when we go through to pay for them we choose the billing country as Australia. But the "State" field only has American states and American territories listed. But the State field is a mandatory field and it needs you to fil it in. When I leave it blank the payment fails to go through.

What do people list as the "State" in order to make payment? I was thinking "Pacific" even though its under American Armed Forces since it most closely resembles our location!!

AA used to always require a 5-digit "zip" code for your postcode. This may be why its not going through. Try leaving the state blank and adding a leading zero to the post code. When making AAdvantage award bookings, I have found payment with Australian credit card works when adding the leading zero to my actual post code. However, this case may be different and you may need to call.

Yes I always add an 0 to my postcode and leave the State blank or use Maine as a 0 in front of my postcode makes it the postcode of a village in Maine. Amex has no problem with either.

People have reported doing that, but I personally prefer to use my actual postcode with a leading zero as there is no way anyone can claim I have provided incorrect or misleading information. In fact, I have used the leading zero method several times when making payment with several different credit cards over the phone, explaining to the AAgent that we only have 4 digits in our "zip code" so please add a leading zero and try again - and it works with Amex and 28 Degrees cards.

OMG OMG thankyou so much AFF community!! I put a zero on the end of mums postcode and put that into the payment information and it processed successfully! So they are now booked into Main Cabin Extra.

I also googled mum's postcode with a zero on the end and it's a town in Virginia so I did the same as you drron and put Virginia as our state.
