Recently I took the unusual step of wanting to try out what looked like a convenient Philippines payment option which doesn't require my staff to carry a copy of my credit card when they are checking in.

A) I booked a 5J flight via their website and selected the Pay at 7-11 option. From this I received a payment reference number.

B) I took this reference number to the local 7-11 wherein I was directed to the payment terminal in the corner. Entered all of the details remembering that I had to "round-up" the price as this 7-11 didn't have the centavos needed for the change. Received another payment reference number.

C) Took this reference number to the counter and the assistant entered it into their cash register. It failed.

I went through step B & C again and it failed again. The cashier said to try another 7-11 which I did. It failed there too.

In the end I just swung by a travel agency whom did a complete new booking for the same price.

Has anyone had any luck paying for 5J fares via 7-11 or other pay later options on the ground in the Philippines.

Alby, no I have not. If you are there, perhaps you could ring the call centre to complain - otherwise the managers might not know about it.

7-11s in Philippines (which I've only ever seen in major cities of c.500,000 and above) are efficient so there must be a fault with Cebu Pacific's software.

I am well past complaining to Cebu Pacific call centre and management. Last time when the website was down and couldn't access some important feature (like their website complaint form) I called them. Got to the Complaints team, "OK Sir, just complete the online complaint form." "But it is the problem", "Yes, I know Sir, so please, if you complete the online form it will inform the management"...and so it went on.

Love circular logic.

Many businesses in Thailand including Bangkok Airways accept payments at 7-Elevens. Seems to be quite popular there with the majority not owning a debit card or credit card.
