Back in February I booked and paid for a trip Argentina for October this year in PE, booked through my travel agent.
The purpose of the trip has now fallen through and the flights (MEL-SYD-SCL-EZE return) have been cancelled.

At the moment, the "funds" are sitting in Qantas' account and I can cancel completely and take a large penalty or I can use the funds towards a ticket of equivalent or higher value/class and take a lesser penalty (about $300 difference in penalty). I need to use/book a flight by Feb 2017 for use by October 2017. The funds can only be allocated/used by booking with my TA.

I have over 1,000,000 FF points and can feel a need (:lol: ) to visit SFO in late September.

Using the QF booking engine through my FF login, a PE return MEL-SYD-SFO is about $5.2k (relatively short notice and school holidays pushing up price, no doubt); if I use the points+pay slider, I can use about 375,000 points plus the ~$2200 in "funds held in my account". (I'm still weighing up whether a week away is worth $2.2k+375k points, I might add.)

Question: is points+pay available through a TA or is it only an available option if I book with QF directly online?

Only available online.

That's an incredibly poor-value use of points ;)

I agree, but I was factoring in the $450 cancellation fee if I simply cash out the fare. As I said, I have till Feb 2017 to decide to go somewhere before Oct 2017.
I'm sure I'll find a reason to travel somewhere (as I had already bought all my planned 2017 travel tickets during the double-SC-sale in May).
