Pay for pool usage at high end hotels

I'd rather take a cheaper room rate and have to pay for the pool use.

I couldn't tell you the last time I used a pool in a hotel.

Cost savings are very rarely passed onto the customer at a meaningful %.

Unfortunately, common charge in Japan, as has been mentioned by now. Free for golds/diamonds at HH hotels that charge, however. Probably free for SPG plats?
