Hi All,

I've been QF WP for past 4 years and now living in USA. I am keen to swap over to AA ExPlat but can see no status match from QF to AA. I've thought about matching to UA but have no intention to fly with them so not sure that would work.

My flying this year will mean that i will most likely lose QF WP as I am in a US Air hub and have split my flying between two alliances while i wait for the US/AA merger to go through.

Has anyone done this? What path did you take?

Thanks

Matt.

There is no status match QF to AA, been there, tried that, just AA platinum challenge to get you started (at least you get double miles on AA, BA, AY coded ticket). The only pathway to AA EXP is BIS miles or points, unless they do a promotion like AA did at the end of last year (double elite miles and points on AA metal Nov and Dec 2012). If you are domiciled in the mainland USA, 100,000 miles or points is a LOT of domestic flying (40 transcontinental trips in Y), I relied a lot on long haul international flights to earn AA EXP, would have hated to try to do the lot just within the 48 states

Need to add that there is no status match QF to UA or DL which is a bummer, been there and tried that also

AA have zero problem letting you use lounges with your QF OWE either. You could easily enrol in the platinum challenge, get Platinum on AA and continue to use your QF WP in the mean time.

As for a 'fast track' to EXP there isn't one. There are of course dedicated threads everywhere on Milepoint and Flyertalk about the cheapest way to get it, but it's all BIS as mentioned. No easy way.
