The people writing those stories have no concept of what UTC and local time really means…
Staff gone home for the day?
Except the aircraft landed at TPE probably around dawn and were towed to a stand some time after 0700 local. They departed at 1800 local. CX apparently have six HKG-TPE flights a day, so there were definitely staff available. CX chose to leave all the pax on board until they could get a new crew over to fly the aircraft home. Maybe we’ll find out what their (by now, fully PR endorsed reason) reason was, maybe we won’t.
