A PASSENGER on Singapore Airlines was left gob smacked after receiving a $US1171.46 (AUD$1344) bill for using the plane’s in-flight Wi-Fi.
Reported on Trend Hunter, Jeremy Gutsche was on a Singapore Airlines flight from London to Singapore when he decided to use the plane’s Wi-Fi to check his emails. Claiming to make just 155 page views, Jeremy was outraged to receive the whopping bill when he stepped off the plane.

Charming!

And on the SQ 777s wifi is a fixed price for the whole flight, it's only the 380 that has a usage charge.

When purchasing wifi initially you are offered the choice to terminate the service after initial allowance (30 Mb) is used or continue at a per Mb rate (which you are advised of). It's not difficult to avoid excessive charges. All too easy for people to not take responsibility for their own actions and just whinge about things on social media later.

Windows 8, with wi-fi set to "non-metered" (default)? I wonder.
