I'm looking into using Krisflyer points to book Alaska Air flights. The website says I should be able to do this online but nothing comes up and it says to call my local Singapore Airlines call centre. I also tried a few flights that should be Virgin routes for comparison and seemed to have the same issue.

Is there any trick to using points to redeem partner airlines online or is it still easiest to call up?

The new Singapore Airlines website is a work-in-progress, I'm afraid. You will probably need to call KrisFlyer to make these bookings.

Having said that, you can check for award availability on other websites (e.g. use the Qantas or AA website for Alaskan availability) before calling.

interesting, there is availability showing for me on Qantas but when I called Singapore they don't have it. A bit disappointing really - no availability weeks either side of the dates we want (September 2018).
