Partial fare upgrade question

I have an upcoming trip from BNE-LHR via SYD and SIN later this year. Currently this is booked in O class as a roundtrip. If possible, I am keen to upgrade to a different fare (using cash) the SIN-LHR component to PE. As this is currently a round-trip, I'm thinking this may not be possible and that I need to upgrade the whole thing from BNE.

Does anyone know if it is possible to do a partial upgrade on this type of fare? Cancellation is not an option as I don't want to lose my seats on the BNE-SYD-SIN sectors. I know I can use the fare as credit, but the restriction on this being from the "point of origin" might make this difficult since I'd probably need to do an end-on-end combination to achieve what I want, and the origin of the second fare would be SIN.

Any ideas/thoughts/experiences?

Thanks

How did you book the fare?

I know Travel Agents can do this, as can QF Telephone staff. They'll hold the seats, cancel the booking, and re-issue the fare with the relevant segments changed to Premium Economy, with all necessary change and re-issue fees applied.

If you booked online, chances are you're going to have to call QF and wear the costs of the phone booking as well as the change and re-issue fees.

I booked via an agent. But when I asked the question, they told me that the only way was to upgrade the whole trip...

I think you are right, calling QF might be my only option...

You'll either have to reissue the whole thing in PE, or if its even possible, reissue the required sector in PE and the rest from O to B or Y class, as there no way it'll quote based on having O combined with T.

I dare say you'll have to reissue the entire thing into PE as there's no mixed class fares, and when I tried to quote one it wouldn't give me anything so dont be surprised if the entire thing has to be on PE.

This is me being completely clueless - but could it be reissued as two separate return etickets (BNE-SIN in Y, SIN-LHR in PE) on the one PNR?

Thanks TG.

Do you think there is any chance this could be reissued as and end-on-end (I think that is what the terminology is) using a BNE-SIN (V) fare combined with a SIN-LHR (T) fare and still qualify to use the credit from the O? The original fare basis is OKEB10 - the sale that finished 5 Jan.

I looked at the QF Oz website and can get to SIN in V for $1000 and then on QF Singapore site there is SIN to LHR for about $2800 (AUD) in what I assume is T. My only concern with that approach is that the PE component probably has a sales restriction on it regarding only being sold in SIN...hence I probably can't use my credit!

Not sure - I guess this is what QF may be able to tell me...I will call and report my findings!

You could, but the issue you're going to have is the rules for using the credit state it must be used for a ticket of equal or higher value, and the BNE-SIN isn't going to be equal or higher to BNE-SIN-LHR.

I'd be interested to know what they come back with.

Hmmm...rang Qantas, didn't really get too far. Not sure she really knew what I was trying to do. I think I will just press my agent to deal with their Qantas rep to see whether we can cancel and use the credit towards achieving what I want to...I will keep you all posted.
