I have friends who are travelling from NSW in early March. One couple is in a motorhome and the other couple have a caravan. From what I understand they are looking for a spot to leave the vehicles while they go on a river cruise/ Kangaroo Island combo trip. It seems they need to find a storage spot while the trip is on & then they will pick up and travel around western South Australia later. Are their any suggestions other than the current plan of paying for a caravan park site while they are away? Are their any suggestions for economical caravan park sites close to Adelaide CBD?

Ring around, as many caravan parks have a storage area. Having said that, any time I’ve needed to do similar, I’ve just paid for an unpowered site.

Thanks. I understand they have started that process. I haven't got the full story yet & I think the early assumption was that there would be a storage facility available with the cruise operator- maybe so but not enough room for a caravan or motorhome or so it seems. Any suggestions of van parks you have used?

I'm in Adelaide. The Adelaide fringe will still be on so a lot of accommodation is a bit more expensive. I can't think of anything off the top of my head but I'll let you know if I do.

You might find a Storage place - eg U store it, Storage King - but there are many, may rent a short term outside space. Would be cheaper than a caravan site right now. They are located all around Adelaide. There's one at Norwood that has caravans and boats parked.

Would it be worthwhile calling a caravan sales yard? They might have room or might be able to suggest somewhere.

There is a mob called Low Cost Storage at Bolivar that friends have used before.
Fairly cheap and offer short term (weekly) storage

We've used them for our boat trailer. We left it in November wehn we took the boat to Port Broughton and they did seem rather full but that may have been temporary. We did wonder, with all the cc tv and massive locks on the containers what was actually stored in them 😂

People store household items in them when moving so could have valuable/antique furniture and I do know of people that have stored vintage motorcycles and cars inside containers before

Suggestion, post this to a dedicated caravan forum. (Find a good one, because there a quite a few really nasty caravanning forums or there)

This sort of question is their bread and butter.

PS, love caravans and posting this whilst drinking a coffee sitting inside our van 🙂.

Thanks. I am on a few of those caravan & camping forums- I also find it difficult to understand some of the nastiness by some of those posters

The nicest one I've found was the AVAN owners group. You needed to either own one (which we do) or be in the market for one to be allowed to join. I suspect other manufactures have a verified owners forum which keeps the riff raff out.

The general "everyone is welcome" ones are just so toxic that I refuse to go near them with a 100ft barge poll.
