I'm going to PNG for work this Saturday. I'm on QF351 (operated by Air Niugini) BNE - POM.

1. I've been allocated seat 14B by the company TA. I can't find any seat plans on Air Niugini's website. Anyone know which config this flight will be? (QF seat plans for a 767-300 don't show a row 14?)

2. I've got a day on Sunday spare in POM and possibly another day at the end the work 10 days later. I'm pretty keen to land a black bass. Anyone know of or recommend a daytrip operator out of POM? Any other ideas for ways to kill a day in POM? (I'll have a driver - there's no wandering around at my own leisure unfortunately)

3. I need to purchase a visa on arrival. Is there an ATM prior to immigration? If not, other than the airport, where to get PNG Kina in Melbourne at short notice?

Thanks in advance....

I've done this sector a few times. Also have flown CNS - POM.

The CNS - POM has always been on a F100 (FOKKER 100 to be exact) with a 2 3 seating configuration (2 seats then the aisle then 3 seats). If this is the plane you are on then 14B is about 1/2 way down on the aisle. Check this link - same airplane

If it's a 767 then you should be able to find your seat easily.

To confirm what type of plane you will be on go to www.checkmytrip.com, and enter your booking number and your last name and it will tell you accurately your fligth details, includin gthe aircraft type.

2. Unfortunaltely I have only been there for business and not had a lot of time to check the place out. Not that I am overly keen to anyway as it's not the nicest country IMHO. You won't want to walk around the place yourself, thats for sure.

3. Try and sit near the front of the plane and take at least 500 kina with you onboard. There is no ATM before immigration so you will need to take the cash with you. Make a bee line to the VISA Required line at immigration, and be prepared to wait. More often than not there is one person processing the visa applications and doing so VERY slowly. You can get kina at BNE.

Be prepared for the stinkiest flight of your life which ever plane you are on!

Thanks for that Vec.

I can't seem to find a row 14 on any of the QF seat maps for 767-300. Row 1-5 is J, then whY starts at row 23. I'm guessing it's a PX thing. I look forward to being surprised tomorrow.

Nose plugs packed....

You sure it's not a 737-800 or 737-400?

14B on -800 is middle of exit row
14B is 2 rows behind exit rows on -400.

Air Niugini don't have any 737's.

If he was in seat 14B it will be a Fokker 100 for sure.

BNE - POM was on a 767-300 as indicated. PX has no seat maps and none of the QF seat maps show a Row 14. I guess PX label the rows a bit more sensibly than QF. FWIW, WRT 767-300's, Row 14 on PX is about Row 35 on QF.

It's a F100 to CNS. Don't care where I sit as it's a short flight.

I stand corrected!

Have fun over there Happy Dude.

If you get more than one single day free in POM I would suggest heading out of there on a short flight up to Madang. Very nice place with loads of things to do.

Anything to get out of POM!

Too late for your trip now but I would guess Air Niugini numbers the rows similar to BA 767s. So in all likelihood 14B would be an aisle seat 14 rows back.

Not sure why QF jumps from row 5 to row 23 on the 767s and A330s....
