Pacific Blue's NZ routes on sale Virgin Blue subsidiary Pacific Blue will commence New Zealand domestic services on November 15, on the key Auckland-Wellington, Auckland-Christchurch and Wellington-Christchurch routes. Fares start from A$34 one way and are on sale via the internet today.

“We are confident the circumstances are now right and there is room for competition and an obvious need for market stimulation,” Virgin Blue chief executive Brett Godfrey said. “Pacific Blue is well positioned to give the existing players a good run for their money, particularly on the monopolistic Wellington-Christchurch route.”

Pacific Blue will operate five daily services on the Auckland-Wellington route, two daily flights from Auckland-Christchurch and three daily from Wellington- Christchurch.

The $34 fares are available online until September 16.
