Anyone going? Starts tomorrow.

Tickets sold out for Sat/Sun already - but plenty of places to watch it from. I saw them rehearsing this morning, should be good.

I'm off to the coast this morning for 3 days. Only got tickets for Saturday but i'm staying in a high rise just back from the beach so hopefully can sit on the balcony with a coldie and watch some of it from there

If anyone's interested, here is todays schedule.

Ah nice - thanks. Would you mind posting them Sat & Sun when you get them too? I registered but didn't get it this morning.

I live here with a view of the ocean (20th floor) so didn't get tickets. Testing it today to see if I can see it OK, otherwise will find somewhere free to watch it tomorrow.

I saw them rehearsing yesterday and the Osprey flew so close it shook my building, so I think I'll be right.

I got this through my ATC channels:

Yes, have tickets for Sunday but lots of interesting traffic at work today (OOL). Ospreys prepping for start up and their first performance today.

I am SOOOOOOO p'd off
My manager gave me a long weekend for this weekend ( 2 months ago)
Finished last night and not back on deck until Tuesday.
Could have easily made MEL-OOL .......

Instead, I'm dog sitting for @Risotto93

There's still time.

From what I saw from my balcony today, you'd get a pretty good view at Main Beach for free.

Has anyone got thoughts on the show?. Sitting in the pub yesterday talking to people the opinion from some was that it was a little boring. Apart from the airforce flybys and handling displays etc it is all aerobatics. Lots of sessions of different planes/pilots all doing the same thing.
What do other people think?

I enjoyed the show today. I like the concept of this show being held over water and very accessible. I thought the variety of aircraft and the program was not too bad for a four hour show. The inclusion of the late cancellations from the USA would have made it even better, especially the F16 team.

I had friends who attended on Friday. They purchased general admission tickets, took their own chairs and said that the commentary was fantastic with great explanations of aircraft, manoeuvres etc.
I’ll definitely be going next year!

I don’t know why you’d buy a ticket. Plenty of free beach to sit on and see the same view, with much more room to move.

I don’t know if I’d go as far as saying it was boring but I do think calling it Australia’s biggest air show is misleading. It only had token support from the RAAF with a single super hornet and C130/C17. US did not contribute any fighters - so it was missing the wow factor that you get at Avalon or the RAAF run airshows. However I still think it was a pretty big success.

I imagine AMDA (the company that runs Avalon) don’t want to give up any market share. It will be interesting to see how the next iteration goes.
