Pac Blue launches market assault with new seats | Stuff.co.nz

Pacific Blue wants to bump up its 11 per cent share of the New Zealand domestic market by launching "premium economy" seats.

...

"We'll be putting premium economy seats in the aircraft. That will happen towards the end of the first quarter of next year."

Sounds quite good given that the New Zealand is market void of any premium seating (with the exception of space+ on NZ)...

Is there that much demand for it in NZ? most the flights are so short, are people going to be paying the premium for it over a sub-90 minute flight?

serfty might be one of the best to comment on this one :)

Well, it will depend on price. If they come in close to space +, or an equivalent surcharge over full fare economy that space plus would cost, then it should do ok.

It sounds like to a move to standardise across the Pac Blue fleet. They now have Y+ to DPS (and I assume to HKT). Always easy to start selling the middle seats if demand for it is not there and sales for the flight hit 174 ...

If I was in NZ I would use the service, of course subject to price. But as they will have the only premium service in NZ my guess is that it would be well utilised.
