The trip is in 4 days so this really should be the final update on this topic. My TA just called to advise that LAN had dropped their codeshare flight on Monday and instead switched us to the QF flight (that we were already on anyway). So now we're ticketed through LAN (so minimal fuel fines), still flying on QF metal, but we're on a QF flight number now instead of the LAN codeshare number. That means I will now earn the QF status bonus and I can plumb for an upgrade if I decide it's worthwhile. I think that's an excellent result!
