I can see RooFlyer reviewed this back in 2022 so thought I'd give you a 2026 perspective. I'll start the review by saying that we'd have no hesitation staying again.
Hotel was booked through Qantas hotels to get my last green leaf. Booked a original sun room that gave us a lake view. Not a chance I would have booked one of the internal light well facing rooms.
The rate included breakfast, an evening drink and late check-out. Received a few emails leading up to our stay including one that detailed what's on in Canberra. Comedy festival was wrapping up, and the balloon festival was also on. Yay us. Booked a couple of shows as a result.
We'd stayed next door at Peppers Gallery so knew what was around the hotel in New Acton.
Agree with Rooflyer about getting dropped off outside the cinema. The staircase is a beautiful feature but signage is small.
I got a happy birthday as soon as I said my name! Take that Qantaslink.
Only two levels of rooms and we were in 227 on the top of the two.
We asked about dinner at check-in and the receptionist hinted maybe we wander into the city.
We love industrial architecture and this place was exactly our style.

A card wishing me a happy birthday with a little plate of petit fours. Super nice!

Looked out to the lake as described. No issues with road noise. Could see the National Museum and Library from the room.

We went down to the bar and got our free drinks - house wine or draft beer - and as the local beer was out we were offered any bottled beer. Nice.
We decided to 'risk' dinner and it was absolutely fine. Steak frites (steak was very good and perfectly cooked) and a couple of equally good small plates. No photos.
It was an easy 10 minute walk up to the Canberra Civic theatre where we saw Sammy J

then caught up with Ranga, his wife and a friend, and we all went to the Festival Club and another good show.
Breakfast is 'continental' but that selection includes an egg dish as well as fruit, porridge and other stuff. If you want something from the 'cooked' selection it's another $10 each. I had a great fruit plate with yoghurt and bAlt had some bloody good scrambled eggs. Coffee and juice included.
Met kangaroo75 and Mrskangaroo75 for a drink before we went out for dinner. BAlt and I had been down at the bar early and ordered a wine that turned out also to be part of our package. Yay us.
Breakfast Sunday was from the pay extra side and again both were very good.
It was last day of the balloon festival and we'd headed out early to see the balloons inflate and float off over the lake. We could nearly have stayed in our room as they would have all gone straight past.
It was fantastic

Asked for late check-out and given but then we decided to go out and not come back until uber time.
We really liked the hotel, the staff were all excellent and the food was good. My only gripe was the pints of beer we're ridiculously expensive - $20!!!
