I'm hoping and guessing this is a no-brainer, but haven't been in the situation before, so just checking.

I've joined AAdvantage (after some prodding from elsewhere :) ) and as I've already re-qualified for QFF Plat, I'd like to put the remainder of my current Pacific trip onto the AA account, rather than QFF. Therefore my CX and MH BPs will have no status on them.

Is there any doubt that I will be able to access non QF Flounges (or equivalent) - in HKG, SIN and KUL using the zero status BP and my QFF 1W Emerald card?

I've heard of checking-in under 1 scheme (say, QFF) then getting the FF scheme changed in the lounge (say, to AA), where I would be (more) certain of the best of both worlds. Does this work routinely, or more of a 'sometimes, depending on the lounge agent' thing?

The card will gain you admittance regardless of the BP (IME). I have had the FF number changed from QF to AA after checkin, though I gave them the wrong AA number (), so it is possible to change it.

Doesn't always work (IME)... I asked the lounge staff at LHR to change out my QFF number for my AA one.... They said it had all been done... but... the flight in question was credited to QFF...

Not sure what - if anything - I could have done to "check"...

If you ask the lounge staff to reprint your boarding pass after adding the new ffn it should appear as an AA nbr not a QF one.

Has anyone had any issues yet showing a status card but non status BP to access lounges? Would be interesting to find out...

Assuming no changing of FF numbers at the lounge etc.

The only places I can think one might have issues (and I have no personal experience with this) is some of the CX outstations where they print a lounge invite (eg. TPE) and seem to require it when entering the lounge.

I guess for whatever reason if they don't allow access, one can change the FF number on the BP at the lounge to the one that has status. Feels odd to having to do that though...
