I just hope Air NZ do not go overboard again and paint the All Blacks on thier aircraft untill at least we win the damn thing!

I wouldnt be surprised if Air NZ does again do a deal with NZRFU to put the ABs picture on one or more aircraft.

I could handle an AllBlack scheme on a Saab 340 or B1900D, but please keep it off anything bigger, and definately off anything likely to arrive in Australia :p .

I do seem remember that AirNZ having to get special permission from various Aviation Authorities after painting a plane completely black for one of the world cups in the UK..

not sure if it was the '91 or '99 RWC..

Its actually a shame that Japan didn't get it.. I mean a country that isn't a big fan of soccer suddenly being put into the World cup finals, saw a huge increase in interest..

So why not rugby?
They have huge corporate teams in Japan. They even important former International players to throw a jumper on for Kobe Steel..

It wasnt completely black. They had a huge image of the AB front row painted (actually stickied) on.

Maybe they will have to purchase (or lease) an A380 for the purpose. Its the only aircraft big enough and ugly enough to carry such an image :D .

Classic. ROFLMAO....... :D

Does this mean most of the games will be in Australia again?
I suppose we better get those extra seats for the Telstra stadium back. :p

IIRC NZ won the inaugural cup back in '87 when Australia and NZ co-hosted the event.

I'm with knoxd and disappointed that Japan didn't get the nod, though I'm sure the kiwis will do a great job.

Dont think so. There was talk at one stage of offering Australia home games in return for its vote - but I guess no one agreed to that. Anyway I am sure Australia's vote for Japan will be brought up at the appropriate time as some additional motivation :D

Somehow I don't think NZ will be stupid enough to try and break the signage contract again this time.

Well from what i understand it will be a wholely NZ affair..

No games in AUS or any of the Pacific islands..

The only reason NZ didn't get games in 2003 was because of a corporate advertising deal inside the stadiums in NZ.. They over ran all other contracts for special events and the RWC..

So it was all abit silly to be honest..

I mean who wouldn't want to see there home team play at home in such a huge rugby event..

The feeling here in CHC right now is that most people are really pleased..
I'd fly to NZ to see a few games.. especially the nations who have never gone to the quarters or semis like Japan.

Ran into a Japanese guy here and he love rugby.. He was very disappointed they didn't get it.. Japan spend alot of money on corporate teams.. Who do you think can afford Nathan Grey?
