On June 20 and July 8 I am traveling [with my mother] CNS to KIX on JQ 15/16 to catch EK 316/317 to Hamburg and return. Tweo tickets involved CNS/KIX/CNS and KIX/HAM/KIX

Assuming everything runs on time the times between arrival and departure are 4hr30m [JQ15 to EK317]on the way over and 3hr15m [EK316 to JQ16] on the way back.

Anyone with experience at Osaka see a problem with these times to pick up baggage, clear immigration and customs go up to the top floor and check in for the next leg.

Well I'll tell you then. Yes Three hours is definitely enough time to clear customs. immigration, quarantine etc in KIX and check-in for a JQ flight if you have no luggage to collect and only have cabbin baggage. If you have checked luggage to collect it is probably enough time as well given that most of the time was spent in the line at the JQ counter. Our checked luggage was interlined from EK to JQ and the only reason we had to go landside was that I had an Emergency Row seat on the JQ flight so I could not check-in on-line.

One other caveat; we had only one other aircraft being processed at the time so I guess if there were many more the margin tightens.

Kansai is a very efficient airport. Stay airside if you possibly can - there's nothing but a train station and a car park outside on the artificial island, and only a few shops - banks, ticket offices etc. landside.

I think it may be the longest terminal in the world. Luckily it has a driverless train system to get from one end to the other.

Even if you have to go out and check back in, three hours should be fine. It's only the one building. Lounges may not be quite your cup of tea, though.

Good to hear that you made it OK, my wifes JQ flight from CNS-KIX last month was delayed by about 4-5 hours so if you had been on that particular flight then your connection to an EK flight would have gone very pear shaped. As it happens she had no further flights onwards but still inconvenient. Good to hear it went OK with you - we have always found KIX a good airport as far as customs and baggage are concerned.
