The trolley run ranks right up there with the guy who made all those 1c transactions with Citylink to get the 100 points (was it that many) Amex per transaction. Got sit down pretty quickly I seem to recall.

They do add up though and it is the ability to collect points from flying, credit card spend, supermarket spend, wine (epiqure) spend, Optus bills etc that make QFF viable. Being able to collect points from all those sources and roll into one program rather than sharing across a number (QFF, Kris, Velocity, Flybuys etc) and perhaps never earning enough to really benefit is what counts for someone like me who doesn't fly for work and doesn't have a business of my own to help

In saying that, I have managed to collect almost 2M points over the last 4 years and everyday rewards has contributed about 200K of those. Significant but not enough to really impact me too much.

I'll just keep logging onto this site for inspiration and ideas, has been much more beneficial to me than woolies ever will be

In store Big W spend was recently enhanced to 1 point per $2 over the $30 minimum. Online spend is still 1:1 though.

Maybe Woolies is going the same way!

Offer applies to Woolworths supermarkets and BWS stores (excluding Tasmania), BIG W stores, Big W Online and and Cellarmasters. You must be an Everyday Rewards member and a Qantas Frequent Flyer member and have linked your memberships to earn points.
To earn points you must present your Everyday Rewards card at the time of purchase. Earn 1 point per dollar spent over $30 in one transaction at Woolworths supermarkets and BWS stores (excluding Tasmania). Earn 1 point per $2 spent over $30 in one transaction at BIG W stores. Earn 1 point per dollar spent at Big W Online and Cellarmasters. I wouldn't mind the change if their online store actually listed everything available in store. It doesn't so it is bloody useless!

Was there information on the survey and interview whether they are still going to do bonus point promotions?

Base points are basically worthless to me regardless of whether it is 1 point per dollar over $30 or 1 point per $2 over $30. I get 90% of my QFF points from bonus point targeted offers from EDR and Qantas Cash. The other 10% of my QFF points are from EDR/QFF base points and a little bit from Qantas Cash base points.

I went to a lot of trouble setting up QFF accounts for all the family members but I don't want to end up with tiny points amounts in each account which I can't make use of. I doubt QFF would allow family transfers of less than 5000 points on a yearly basis.

I like the idea of discounts off my shopping trip given at the register or sent to me by gift card but I want to be able to use the points earned as well.

Please note: I'm an unusual AFF member. I want to learn about flying and travelling but at this stage I'm using my points to save money on my weekly shopping trips so I convert all my points to gift cards of some form. I know there are better conversion rates out there but I'm not ready for them yet.

If Woolies stops providing any means to get QFF points, I'll probably take my business elsewhere. Well I won't go to Woolies over Coles and Aldi any more. Just go where its convenient and collect the CC points only.
Actually removing the swipe card from petrol pumps annoyed me as well. Part of the reason for getting the woolies CC to suplement the Amex was because i could touch the pad get petrol and drive off!
They told me they were going to be replaced by another provider, but that hasn't happened!

I get about 20% of my points from woolies shopping (excluding the CC points), so removing it completely, would free me up to explore other shops.

If true, it would have to be someone like SQ, NZ or Thai (or maybe Virgin)

It seems though the Qantas Frequent Flier program may be joining its parent on the downhill run.

Several times now after shopping at Woolworths I have been sent a link to fill in a survey about my experience.

Towards the end of the on-line survey it asks if there is anything they can do to improve their service.

I ALWAYS request they give me ability to send my points to Virgin instead of Qantas at the same earn rate.

I do this as I use my accrued points for international flights. The cost of taxes/levies & airline charges from Sydney to Las Vegas return on Qantas is $880. The cost on Virgin is $234.

Similar savings are experienced when travelling to Heathrow return (& probably to all destinations).

Qantas have been robbing us blind with the taxes/levies/airline charges of their FF tickets & I'm now burning up all my points as quickly as I can with them, whilst earning my points as quickly as I can with Virgin.

My wife has changed her credit card over to the Velocity Frequent Flyer Visa Credit Card which earns 1.25 Virgin points per $1 spent along with 4 flights with a partner each year for half price.

I've stopped my CBA Diamond Cards from pushing points across to Qantas, instead accruing Commonwealth Rewards Points that I can push across to Virgin.

There is a saying "what goes around, comes around."

Qantas is now reaping the wrath of its own customers due to its own actions.

If the Woollies programme dies, I shall shop at Coles (Which I prefer over Woollies anyway), However it’s not going to change my life very much, My CC / Banking Points and EDR points over the last 12 months (in % terms) is : CC/ Banking (and I have, but don’t use an EDR CC) 96.3%, vs. EDR 3.7%. so no great loss to me. I am not sure what the average size shopping cart at Woollies is, BUT if you spend $60.00 you are really only getting 1 point per $ spend anyway.
I suspect that the vast bulk of EDR customers are not as savvy as the members of this and similar forums, and as such represent a better profit centre to QFF through poorly redeemed or not redeemed at all.
To sum it up, I think that if woollies drop it,someone will fill the void, how or when I don’t know, maybe IGA ?

I will watch with interest, we swapped our Family Supermarket spend from Coles to Woolies because of the EDR/QFF Points, the Coles Fly Buys are completely useless, whereas as a QFF, any points earned that can go into the same pot as a top up work much better.

I doubt IGA will get on the loyalty bandwagon if Woolies exits - at least over here in the West I've not seen any real intent from IGA to get into loyalty points schemes. Various individual stores seem to have bought into the 4c fuel savings thing from time to time, but I don't see any brand wide thrust into loyalty. I think for the most part they are still relying upon early/late opening hours and dotting stores all over the suburbs (convenience factor).

It will be a great shame if Woolies exits, or largely withdraws from QFF ... unless they by so doing move over to VFF which would seem unlikely. As mentioned above, Coles and their Flybuys scheme is essentially worthless, at least to me. If I'm hoping for a utopian future then warehousing points (ala Amex) which could be transferred to QFF/VFF or other airlines would be a great step forward, so long as transfer rates were kept realistic.

The only thing I don't like with the EDR program is that 50% of the time I have to contact them because bonus points have not been allocated to my account. Just this week the bonus 500 points for spending over $100 at BWS I had to contact - sorry, you must not have activated your reward. Err ... Yes I did.
Having to keep my receipts until the points hit my account is a pain.

Spending my points on Classic Seats has never been a problem for me, lessons learned here on AFF have taught me to book 360 days out.

I for one will be VERY upset if Woolies pulls out from QFF.

They were removed as a loss prevention requirement.

Several times now after shopping at Woolworths I have been sent a link to fill in a survey about my experience.

Those surveys go towards that stores NPS rating. Any comments that are not controllable by that one store you shopped at are just going to get a :rolleyes::confused: response when the store gets the survey results.

Certainly not my experience for travel to the USA or to Asia.
Maybe that applies to members with status but I don't.
This is maybe one of the things that the survey is about - how valuable are QFF points if you have no status with QF?
My 600,000 points just can't get me anywhere overseas in J unless I book 353 or whatever days ahead and am prepared to leave my spouse in economy. ( In fact, it would be me that is down back for obvious reasons)

For your information, I have no status - actually never paid for a QF flight in the last 10 yrs at least. But just managed to book a round the world trip for two of us. Perth-Tokyo-Vancouver-Los Angeles-Miami-Rio-London-Madrid-Toulouse overland to Warsaw-Doha-Perth. All in Business, except for the Miami-Rio leg, starting in early July next yr for 560,000 pts.
I can sure do with another 600,000 pts for our next trip!

I guess the trick is you do have to plan early.

Forgot about Hongkong and Bangkok, the first couple cities on my trip (some of these are only transit or overnight stops).

Forget Woolies and Coles for that matter. The small amount of fuel discounts and the continued cutbacks of points systems has been overturned by BankWest and Qantas. I don't work for any of these companies nor am I affiliated but being in engineering I can do some maths. Grocery shopping to save 20 times that of fuel doc's answer is Aldai. Payment system that can earn you 5 yes 5 points per dollar spent is new transaction card from BankWest which can be used as a debit card and ALSO a point earner based on account balance. NO BRAINER PEOPLE
