Hi all

I am new to this site and am quickly discovering what a fantastic resource it is!

I have a pretty simple question. I am QF platinum and have just joined CX (diamond). It looks like my next flight is on cathay. I am assuming that if i want fly on my QF membership (to ensure i stay platinum!) i cannot on the same flight gain points with Cathay?

How do ppl with multiple oneworld memberships decide which program to use on any given flight?

Cheers!

Should not be possible although I am sure that on the rare occasion a person has been able to claim miles from more than one FF program.

Depends on the circumstances but I think most people would prefer top tier status with the airline they fly the most as that airline is likely to look after them better.

Generally it's nest to credit to where you'll get the most value from the fare, depending on what fare type you have.

For example, my dad is a MPC Diamond and I tell him he's much better crediting his domestic flights here to QFF as he gets a minimum 1000 points while he'd get just a couple hundred miles with MPC on a discount economy ticket. Hardly worth contributing to a 120000 requal level.

At the end of the day if you can maintain both programs then choosing where points are best earned is the way to go.
